PHOTOGRAPHIC-FILM WASHER.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Aug. 13, 1912.
Application filed July 22, 1910. Serial No. 573,240.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Ronnnr F. Tnoxnnn, a citizen of the United States, residing at Evansville, in the county of Vanderburg and State of Indiana, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Photographiclfilm lVashers, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to certain useful improvements in photographic film washers, the object being to provide a-film washer which is exceedingly simple and cheap in construction, and one in which the fixing solution will be thoroughlywashcd from the film without any danger of injuring the film in any way by handling the same.
A. further object of my invention is to provide a film washer in the form of a nozzle in which one end of a film is adapted to that water passbe secured in such a manner ing through the nozzl will be delivered upon both sides of the film in order to thorough'ly wash the same.
Another object of nozzle servingthe purpose film from curling when the ed in an inverted position.
of preventing the lVith these objects in view, the invention specification :-Figure 1 is a front elevation of my improved film washer showing the film in position to be washed. Fig. 2 is an end elevation. Fig. 3 is a transverse section. Fig. 4 is a detail view of a modified form. In carrying out my improved invention, I employ a nozzle comprising a cylindrical body .A provided with an enlargement B, having a nipple O to which is connected a piece of rubber hose E which is adapted to be connected to a spigot or any other-suitable water supply, and when in use I preferably connect the same to a spigot of a bath tub, it of course being understood that my invention is to provide a film washer which can be used to dry the film after the same has been washed, the
same is suspendthe same can be used in any way desired. The body is provi d with a longitudinal slot having flangeo edges forming spaced clamping members G which are provided with openings registering with one another, and through which pins H are adapted to pass for securing the ,end of the film I between the same, placing the nozzle in a suitable support such as a bracket, the film will be held insuch a manner that when the water is turned on it will pass through the nozzle and be distributed upon both sides of the film so as to remove the chemical therefrom.
After the film has been thoroughly washed the flexible tube is detached from the nozzle, and aclip attached to the lower end of the film which is supported by a suitable bracket, whereby the nozzle will act as a and it will beseen, that by weight in order to hold the film when suspended, so as to preventthe same from curling.
While I have shown a nozzle constructed to hold one film, it of course being understood that by enlarging the same or joining a number of nozzles together a washer can be formed for washing any number of films desired at one time.
In the modification shown in Fig. 4, I provide a nozzle with a pivoted lever J carrying pins K which are adapted to pass through the openings of the film clamp for securing the same, and it will be seen that by this construction it will be only necessary to throw the lever up and down in order to secure a film, or release the same.
From the foregoing description it will be seen that I have provided a film washer in the form of a nozzle having an outlet in which the film is adapted to be secured, and an inlet to which a watersupply pipe is connected for supplying the water for washing the film.
What I claim is t v 1. A photographic film washer compris- I ing a nozzle having a supply pipe connected thereto, saidnozzle being providedwith a slot having its edges providedwith dependmg flanges adapted to receive a film. and
g imam means for securing zil 'm between saic? flange 2. A photographic film masher comprising a cylindrical body 11111 j a iangitudinzzl slot provided with z ending flanges having oppositely disposed cpenin 1, members extending through said openings for securing formed on said ba d A supply pipaconnected s- Witnessesf E.
