BATH-CABINET.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MERCHANT W. GUIonEss, a citizen of the United States, residing at Philadelphia, in the county of Philadelphia and State of Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful Improvements in Bath-Cabinets, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to bath cabinets.
The object of the invention is the provision of a simple and eflicient device of this character which is conveniently portable and in which different type of baths may be had, such as shower, tub, or Turkish baths. 0
A further object of the invention is the provision of a simple, efiicient and thoroughly compact structure of this character wherein the tub may be readily folded within the cabinet or extended therefrom and wherein the doors for closing the cabinet carry suitable screen panels for surrounding the tub'when extended for use.
A still further object of the invention is the provision of a compact device embodying supply tanks and heating devices for heating the water therein to the required temperature and for supplying a quantity of heating air Where a Turkish or vapor bath is desired.
Further objects of this invention will ap-i pear as the following specific description is read in connection with the accompanying drawing, which forms a part of this application, and in which z- Figure l is a front elevation. Fig. 2 is a section on the line 22 of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a horiiontal section on the line-33 of Fig. 1. Fig. 4 is a front elevation of the device with the doors open and the tub removed and with parts broken away. Fig. 5 is a top plan view with the tub in extended position. Fig. 6 is a vertical sectional view on the line 66 of I Fig. 4.
.11, the latter of which are provided with extensible legs 12 to support the panels and with a suitable latch 13, by which the panels 11 of each door may be connected together. Each of these panels is preferably provided Specification of Letters latent.

upon its inner face with mirrors 14 and the i doors are providednpon their exterior faces 15 so that when the cabinet is closed, as in Fig. 1, it will present a neat appearance. These panels and doors are adapted to be arranged, as shown in Fig. 5, to conceal a tub 16 which is adapted to extend out to the position shown in Fig. 5 and be folded into the cabinet in the position shown in Figs. 2 and 3. The tub is connected to the back 17 of the cabinet by means of extension rods 18 and is supported when in extended position upon folding legs 19 which lie alongside of the tub when in folded position. The tub is supplied with water by means of tanks 20 which are arranged along the sides of the cabinet and have faucets 21 connected to their lower portions and which are supplied with flexible tubes 22 adapted to conduct the water to the tubes. A similar tank 23 is mounted in the compartment 24 between the partition 6 and the top 4 and is connected to a shower head 25 through a pipe 26 having a valve 27 therein, which is controlled by a lever 28 and depending chain 29. These tanks have passing therethrough coils of pipe 30, 31 and 32, the latter being located in the tank 23 and being connected to the coils 30 and 31 by pipes 33. The coils 30 and 31 are passed through the bottom of the tanks 20 where they carry funnels '34 located immediately over blue flame burners 35 which get their supply of /through pipes 36 connected to the burners and to supply tanks 37 arranged in the compartment 24 behind the tank 23. Suitable supply nipples 38 are connected to the tank and extend through the top 4 so that the tanks may be supplied with oil and suitable valves 38 and 39 are arranged in the pipes to regulate the supply of fuel to the burners. heat passes up through the coils 30 and 31 and finds exit through a pipe 40 which is connected to the coil 32 intermediate its ends and extends through the top of the tank 23 and the top 4.
The tanks 20 are provided with suitable safety valves 41, and in order that the user of the cabinet may utilize the device for obtaining the vapor bath, a steam valve 42 .is
The
secured to each tank adjacent its top. A-
similar valve 43 is secured to each tank and is connected to the coil therein so that when therethrough into thewabinet and the user may enjoy a Turkish bath.
When the device is used to obtain a shower bath, the doors are opened up, as shown in Fig. 4, and suitable curtains 44 and 45 are drawn across the front and connected together by a catch 45. These curtains are preferably of similar construction to the ordinary window shades and are mounted upon spring rollers 46 adjacent the sides of the casing. In taking the shower bath, the user stands within a foot tub 45v which is let into the bottom Sand is pro vided with an outlet 48 which may be con nected with a sewer or may be discharged in any other suitable manner. The tub is also provided with a discharge opening 49 which has connected to it a flexible pipe 50 to con duct the water to any suitable point of dis charge.
The tanks 20 and 23 are preferably connected by means of valve pipes 51 and 52 which may be connected through a pipe 53 to any suitable source of water supply, which may also be filled by hand, if desired. The valves 54 and 55 n control the supply of water to the tanks 23 and 20 respectively. Suitable sliding doors 56 are arranged in the base of the tanks so'as to permit access to the burner compartments.
What is claimed is 1. A bath cabinet comprising a casing, a bath tub connected thereto, and adapted to fold within the casing, tanks arranged in the casing on opposite sides of the tub, means to heat the water in the tanks, and flexible discharge pipes connected to the tanks.
2. A'bath cabinet comprlsing a casing, Water tanks mounted therein on opposite sides thereof, and a tub connected to the casing and adapted to fold into the casing between the tanks together with flexible connections from the tanks to the tub.
3. A bath cabinet comprising a casing, tanks arranged therein, adjacent the opposite sides, a partition in the casing forming with the top a compartment, a tank in said compartment, and means for heating all of the tanks simultaneously a tub foldable be tween the first-named tanks, and connections between said tanks and the tub.
4. A bath cabinet comprising a casing, tanks arranged in the casing adjacent the opposite sides, a horizontal partition forming with the top of the casing a compartment, a tank in said compartment, heating coils passing through the tanks and .connectedtogether, heaters arranged below the first mentioned tank,'means to conduct the heat from the heaters to the coils and valve vents in the coils.
5. A bath cabinet comprising a casing, a tub connected to the casing and adapted to fold into the same or be extended therefrom, water tanks arranged upon opposite sides of the casing, a partition in the casing, a shower tank mounted on the partition, and having a shower head connected thereto, and means for heating all of the tanks simu-ltaneously.
In testimony whereof I atlix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
