To all rv/10m, it may concern Be it known that l, WILLIAM H. JnssUr, a citizen of the United States, residing at Sheridan, in the county of Hamilton and State of Indiana, have invented a new and useful Cable Carrier, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improvement in cable carriers, the primary object of the invention being the provision of a carrying means mounted upon the cable and provided with means whereby a bucket or other conveyer may be retained in a relative position to the carrier and be released automatically therefrom.
A. further object of the invention is the provision of a pulley sheave provided with a trigger releasing device operated when the conveyer is pulled upwardly to release said trigger and thereby the conveyer.
lVith the foregoing and other objects 1n view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention resides in the combination and arrangement of parts and in the details of construction hereinafter described and claimed, it being understood that changes in the precise embodiment of invention herein disclosed can be made within the scope of what is claimed without departing from the spirit of the invention.

Referring to the drawings, A designates the cable for hauling or carrying the conveyer, B is the main carrier mounted on a the cable A, C is the bucket or conveyer, D
is what is termed the haul-out line and E is the line for pulling the bucket backward and for releasing the bottom thereof. The carriage or carrier B supports the pulley sheave l by means of the cable F and by this means the bucket or conveyer C may be raised or lowered. The pulley sheave 1 has connected across near its upper end the pin 2, which also has connected to it the two vertically arranged strips 3, and pivoted to the said pin 2 between the upper ends of the strips 3 and the pulley sheave, are the trigger releasing devices 4;, each one of which consists of the downwardly extending arm having the slotted or curved terminal 5 and the trigger releasing hook 6. The slot in the curved arm 5 is adapted to slide upon the pin 7 carried by each strip 3, as shown, and to thereby cause the hooks 6 to describe an arc of a circle with the center, the pin 2.
When the parts assume the position as shown in Fig. 1, the hook triggers 8 have their terminals 8 in engagement with the pin 2, said hooks being arranged in pairs and being mounted upon opposite sides of the upper end of the sheave plate 1. In order to hold the triggers or hooks 8 in this position, the coil springs 9 are employed. l/Vhen it is desired to release the sheave 1 from the position shown in Fig. 1 to that shown in Fig. 4, the cable F is pulled upon. This action lifts the sheave, causing the arms 4- to ride upwardly along and against the under side of the terminals 8, this action pushes the triggers 8 outwardly to assume a tension against the springs 9. lVhen the sheave is lifted to its highest point, the terminals 8 of the triggers 8 will engage the hooks 6, so that when the cable F is re leased to permit the sheave to lower, the trigger releasing devices 4:, being held outwardly and they themselves holding the triggers 8 outwardly, as shown in Fig. 3, the sheave will lower and the triggers 8 will be finally released, so that when they are snapped inwardly the pin 2 will be out of the path to be engaged by the said triggers,
the parts assuming the position as clearly shown in Fig. 4.
To the lower ends of the strips 3 are connected the links 10 which in turn are connected to the bail or bucket handle 11 of the bucket C. Connected to the end of the cable E is a short lever 12 which in turn is pivoted intermediate of its ends to the upper end of the long link 13 whose lower end is connected at 14: to the pivoted bottom 15 of the bucket C, said bottom 15 being hinged eXteriorly of the bucket as at 16, whereby the hinges are not in any way interfered with by the dirt dumped from the bucket. By this construction it will be seen that the cable E can release the bottom of the bucket and dump the contents therefrom and after such releasing that the bucket may be returned to filling position by pulling upon the cable E.
It is therefore evident from the foregoing that a means to relieve the weight of the bucket or conveyer from the main carriage or pulley sheave rope is provided, havingan automatic means for releasing the same when the said rope or cable is pulled upon to raise the pulley sheave.
The line E runs over the guide pulley 17 disposed between the bail 11, the bail lever 12 having its lower ends pivoted at 18 to opposite sides of the bracket, so that as the line E is loosened,the bail lever 12 will move rearwardly pushing the connecting rod 13 downwardly to open the bottom 15.
What is claimed is 1. The combination with a cable carrier, a receptacle, a cable forflexibly supporting said receptacle from the carrier, a pulley sheave connecting said receptacle to the cable, a pin connected across the upper end of said pulley sheave, a pair of spring actuated arms pivoted to the carriage and having hooked ends normally in engagement with the pin of the sheave, and two hook releasing devices pivoted upon the pin of the sheave and adapted when the receptacle is-raised to release the hooks from the pin.
2. The combination with a cable, of a carriage mounted thereon, means for pulling the carriage, areceptacle for carrying material supported flexibly from the carriage, means for pulling the receptacle and car riage and for releasing the material from said receptacle, a cable for flexibly connecting the receptacle to the carriage, a pulley sheave through which said cable passes, a pin connected across the upper end of the said pulley sheave, a pair of spring actuated arms pivoted to the carriage and having hooked ends normally in engagement with the pin of the sheave, and two-hookreleasing devices pivoted upon the pin of the sheave and adapted when the receptacle is raised to release the hooks from the pin.
