Description
UNITED sTATEs PATENT oEEIoE.A
TILDON H. SHAFE, ORENCO, OREGON;
EAzoR-sTRor.
To all whom "it may concern: y
Be it known that I, ELnoN H. SHAFER, a citizen ot the United l States, residing at Orenco, in the county of Vashington and State of Oregon, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in-Razor-Strops, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to t-h'e accom.- panying drawing.,
This invention relates to receptaclesA for razors, and the principal objectof the same is to provide a receptacle having a smaller receptacle mounted therein inwhich the razor is carried and to provide the outer receptacle with acovering of leather or` some other similar material so that the razor may be stropped upon the receptacle, the inner receptacle being drawn out part way to form a handle.
The invention is illustrated in the accom` panying drawings, wherein:
Figure 1 is a perspective view showing the device in position to be used as a razor strop. Fi'g. 2 is a view of the receptacle closed. Fig. 3 is a section along the line 3 3, Fig. 2.
Referring'to the accompanying drawings by numerals it will' be seen that this inrention' comprises an outer receptacle 10 which is preferably formed of vtin or some other rigid material and which is provided with a covering 11 of leather. A packing 12 is positioned between the receptacle 10 and the covering 11 so that the strop will be, softer than would be the case if the leather were mounted directly upon the tin receptacle. The outer edges of the receptacle are pro-- vided with recesses 13 in opposite sides so that the inner receptacle may be drawn out easily when desired. A cover 14 is hinged to the outer receptacle 13 and fits over the edges ot the outer receptacle when closed so that the razor will be held in the box. razor is kept in an inner receptacle 15 which fits in the outer receptacle and is provided Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed October 31, 1911.
The
Patented July 16,1912. serial No. 657,732.
- afford easy means for withdrawing the inner receptacle from the out-er receptacle and also hold the cover closed, the side Vlianges of the cover frietionally engaging the. projections 17.
W'hen using this device the cover is moved to the position shown in Fig.` l and the project-ion 17 grasped and the inner receptacle drawn out as much as desired so that it will form a convenient handle. The razor is then withdrawn from the inner receptacle and can be stropped upon the leather covering of the outer receptacle. It will thus be vseen that this device not only forms a receptacle for containing the razor but is also used as a razor strop.
lVhat is claimed is 1, A device of the character described comprising an outer casing, the opposite edges of the outer end ot said easing being provided with cut-o ut portions, an inner vasing fitting in said outer casing, lugs termed upon said inner casing and fitting into the cut out portions of said outer casing, and a closure tor said outer casing held
