The mitin object ot' the present inwntion is to provide n curbt'ireter in which the menus for controlling the fuel regulating valve are at the top of the earhureter in po :ition for convenient manipulation.
Another object of the invention is to proide :t enrbureter in which the use of .stulling l :t iup-shaped vulve se-ttt member "tt boxes or similar expedients for the t'uel regulating means are dispensed with.

The eurhureter comprises a casing formed with :L eurbureter chamber l in its upper portion und un oil chamber 2 in its lower portion, said oil chamber being formed in a .Jowl-shnped member 2 attached to the eetsing l, und said casing being' formed with a plate or tlunge 3, closing the top otl the oil chamber. The oil chamber member 2 may be' secured to the body of the carbureter by an annular tiange 33 on the bottom of the member 2. screwed on 'the lower end of the tubular member 12, a channel 3G being provided in this tubular member to allow oil to flow into the fpace Si' within this tiange and below the valve stem to enable the valve stem guide to act as adash pot.
Any suitable means may be provided for maintaining a definite level of oil in the oil chamber. Said means consisting. for example. .of a float il* pivotally mounted at 39.

The operation is as follows: The oil being maintained at a definite level in the oil chamber. flows through the pasaages 19. 1S and 17 into the chamber 1G within the hollow valve stem. and when the throttle S is opened and the engine is in operation the suction from the engine produces a partial vacuum in the earbureting chamber 1. and causes the valve member 10 to be lifted. opening communication from the air inlet past said valve member into the carbureter chamber and also causing the valve :eat member 22 to move upwardly with reepect to the upwardliv tapering valve plug 23. thereby enlarging the opening between the fuel valve plug 23 and the valve seat member '2Q in correspondence with the opening of the air valve. 'the valve plug :3 hangs in vertical position by gravity and adapts itself to any variations in the position of the valve seat member 2Q.
