In the accompanying drawing in which is illustrated the preferred embodiment of the invention, the adjustable connection comprises in its construction a pair of approxi- L-shaped plates 1, secured to the staves 2 of a silo at opposite sides of a door opening 3, and receiving the terminal portions of a hoop or binding rod 4. The terminal portions of the binding rodor hoop {L extend through the openings 9, which are horizontally alined, and the said terminal portions project beyond-the plates 1 and extend partially across the door opening 3, being spaced apartat the central portion thereof. The endslQ of the binding rod or hoop are threaded to receive nuts 13,- preferably rectangular and arranged in a longitudinal slot or opening Id of a t-urn buckle 15. The turn buckle is composed of spaced sides and connecting end portions 16, provided with smooth bores or openings 17 for the reception or" the terminal portions of the binding rod or hoop. The inner faces of the sides of the turn buckle are parallel, and the nuts snugly fit within the slot or opening 14. and are adapted to be simultaneously rotated when a guide or way for the nuts, which are slidably interlockedwvith the turn buckle. The ends 16 of the turn buckle are tapered and fit against the L-shapedplates at. the inner ends of the enlar einents of the attaching portions, and the turn buckle spa es the said plates and maintains a door opening of a peri'nanent width.

While only one binding rod or hoop is illustrated in the accompanying drawing, the rods or hoops of a silo'will be arranged in the usual manner, and the adjusting devices for the same will be located sufficiently close to form a ladder at the door opening. What is claimed is 1. In combination with a silo having a door opening, a binding rod or hoop having threaded terminal port-ions projecting at the door opening, plates secured to the exterior of the silo at opposite sides of the door opening and having portions extending into I the same and arranged to engage the edges of the staves of the silo at the door opening, said plates being also provided with horizontal openings through which the terminal portions of the binding rod or hoop pass, a turn buckle extending across the door opening and bearing against the said plates and receiving the terminals of the said rod or hoop, nuts mounted on the threaded terminal portions of the binding rod or hoop, and coiled springsdisposed on the latter and arranged to be compressed by the nuts.
2. In combination with a silo having a door opening, a binding rod or hoop hav- 'ing threaded terminal portions pro ecting at the said opening, approximately *L- shaped plates consisting of exterior portions secured to the'outer faces of the staves of the silo at opposite sides of the door opening, and inwardly pro ecting flanges engaging the edges of the staves at the said Gopies of this patent may be obtained for opening, said plates being provided with horizontally alined openings through which the binding rod or hoop passes, a turn buckle extending entirely across the door opening and fitting against the said plates and receiving the terminal portions of the binding rod or hoop, nuts slidably interlocked with the turn buckle and engaging I the threaded portions of the binding rod or hoop, and opposite springs arranged to be simultaneously compressed by, the nuts. 3. In combination with a silo having a door opening, a binding rodvor hoop having threaded terminals projecting at the door opening, exterior plates secured to the silo at opposite sides of the opening and having inwardly extending portions engaging the edges of the staves at the said opening, said plates being also provided with openings through which the "binding rod or hoop passes, and a turn buckle extending entirely i across the door opening and fitting against the said plates and tudinal opening and having smooth bores at the ends thereof through which the terminals of the binding rod or hoop engaging the threads of the terminal portions of the binding rod or hoop and slidably arranged in the longitudinal opening, and coiled springs disposed on the terminal portions of the binding rod or hoop and interposed between the nuts and the ends of the turn buckle and located within the opening of the latter and adapted to be provided with a long1-' simultaneously adjusted by the rotary movement ot the turn buckle.
