To all wit m it may concern:
Be it KIIOWD that I, JOHN M. Kama, a citizen of the United States, .ILSldltlg at Parkerslm'rg, in the county of \Vood and State of West Virginia, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Derricks, of which the following is a. specification.
The present invention relates to a metallic derrick and has particular reference to a structure of the above mentioned character, which is strong, and formed of few and simple parts, which may be securely held t0- gether and readily separated.
An important object of the invention is to provide a metallic derrick having corner constructions. the parts of which are held together by the minimum number of bolts in'a simple manner, without. the aid of securing plates or other devices.
Other objects and advantages of the in vention will be apparent during the course of the following description.
In theaccompanying drawings forming a part of this specification and in which like numerals are employed to designate like parts throughout the same, Figure l is a perspective view of one corner of the derrick, and, Fig. 2 is a horizontal sectional view taken above the horizontal T-irons.
In constructing my improved metallic derrick, I provide corner uprights 1, arranged in end to end relation and slightly spaced. These corner lll'iliglltS are torn'ied oil metal. such as iron or the like, and are substantially V-shaped in horizontal crosssection. The uprights 1 are disposed so that their faces which are disposed at an obtuse angle a re arranged outerlmist. as shown.
The numeral 2 designates horizontal "l" irons, as shown. The T-irons 2 comprise 'llat body portions 3, upon the outer face of which are formed flanges 4, as shown. The body portions 3 may preferably have their adjacent ends beveled, as shown at 5, and the horizontal flanges may also have their adjacent ends beveled, as shown at G, to form a close fitting construction. Having thus described my invention, I claim 1.. In a derrick or the like, horizontal i irons, uprights :tormed substantially V- shap'ed in llt'HfiZOllttll cross section and dis posed above and below the horizontal flanges of the T-irons in engagement therewith. and bolts p. .ing through the uprights and the body. portions of the T-irons.

In a derrick construction, horizontal fl irons formed of upstanding body portions carrving horizontal flanges, corner uprights ha-med substantially ll-shaped in horizontal cross-section and dis 'iosed upon the outer tacos of the body portions of the T-irons adjacent the meeting ends thereof and above and below the horizontal flanges, diagonal strips disposed. near the corner uprights, and bolts passing through said diagonal strips, corner uprights, and body portions of the T- irons.
In a derrick construction, horizontal elements comprising upstanding body portions provided with outwardly extending horizontal flanges, said elements being arranged at a mroximatelya right angle and having their tree ends disposed adjacent each other, corner uprights-formed substantially V-shaped in horizontal cross-section and having their faces which are disposed at an obtuse. angle arranged outermost, said corner uprights being. placed in engagement with the outer-faces of the upstanding body portions of the horizontal elements above and below the horizontal flanges and in en gagemcnt therewith, diagonal strips placed hold these parts together! are held together by corner uprights above and below the horidescribed,
