Specification of Letters Patent.
To all whom t may concern `Be it known that I, ARTHUR O. HUBnARn, of Minneapolis, Hennepin county, Minnesota, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Silos, of which the following is a specification.
My invention relates to that type of silos in which the walls are composed of upright panels and bars arranged vertically at the joints between the abutting panels.
The object of the invention is to provide means for securing together the abutting ends of the sections composing the bars to the end that the erection of the silo may be facilitated.
A further object is to provide a coupling device which. will be simple and economical in construction and will hold the sections rigidly in alinement with one another.
The invention consists generally in vari,-
ous constructions and combinations, all as hereinafter described and particularly pointed out in the claims. ln the vaccompanying drawings forming part of this specification, Figure l is an outside view of the lower port-ion of a silo with myinvention applied thereto, Fig. 2 is a sectional view showing the meeting edges of the abutting panels and the bar provided at the joint between the panels. Fig. 3 is a front view of the coupling means between the bar sections Fig. Ll is 'a side View illustrating the abutting ends of vertically arranged bars with the coupling bridging the joints between said ends, the coupling being shown partially in section to illustrate the locking keys.

This section has preferably an inwardly projecting flange 4, laterally extending flanges 5 and an outwardly projecting flange (3. The combinati-ion, with the upright silo panels having abutting vertical-edges, of vertically arranged metal bars composed of sections placed end to end7 one above another, said bars-comprising outwardly pro# jecting flanges and side flanges adapted to bear on the panels of the silo, rail plates seated on said outwardly projecting flanges and having their edges bearing on said side flanges and bridgii'ig the joints between the abutting sections of said bars, and tongues passing through said plates and outwardly projecting flanges and locking said sections in vertical alinelnent. j
2. A silo composed of upright panels having vertical abutting edges, metal bars provided at the joints between abutting panels, said barsbeing composed of sections placed end to end and having outwardly projecting flanges and side flanges adapted to bear on the' walls' of said panels, coupling rails bent to tit over said outwardly projecting flanges and having edges'that are seated upon said side flanges, said rails bridging the joints between the sections of said bars, hoops inclosing the silo and seated on said rails,v and means for securing said rails to the outwardly projecting flanges of said bars.
