SECTIONAL HEATER.
To all whom 'it may concern:
Be it known that I, JOHANN Josnr RE1N- ARTZ, subject of German Emperor, residing at Troisdorf-onthe-Rhine, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Sectional Heaters, of which the following is a speciiication,
This invention relates to improvements in the elements of sectional heaters or boilers such for instance as are used for steam or hot water heating.
The object of the present invention is to provide a novel form of element by means of which the gases may be given additional passes in a very simple manner.
According to this invention the elements are all similar but by arranging adjacent elements in opposite directions, a flue for the gases is obtained. For this purpose each element is composed of interconnected hollow limbs arranged in quadrilateral form and branch parts arranged within the quadrilateral and communicating with concurrent limbs thereof.
Referring to the drawings: Figure 1, is asection through one element, the position of the adjacent element being shown in dotted lines. Fig. 2, shows a section through 'another form of element. Fig. 3, is a section on the line 3 3 of Fig. 2.
The hollow limbs a, and Z), are formed of Wrought iron or mild steel tubes and are provided with connecting flanges at c and d. The limbs a and o form a closed quadrilateral preferably a rectangle with the longer limbs a vertical. Within the rectangle, there are arranged branch pipes c, and y, which connect concurrent limbs a and b. The branch pipes extend from the horizontal limbs b, near one corner and parallel to the concurrent limbs a, from said corner for some distance when they are bent around to connect with the said vertical limbs a. In this way the fire chamber g, is formed as also the passes h and z'. When the elements are assembled, adjacent elements are turned, so that openings or iiues for the circulation of the gases are formed at 7c and Z.
In Fig. 1, the branch pipes e and f, are so arranged that the adjacent elements have Specification of Letters Patent.

to be turned (through 180) about a horizontal axis in order to form the flues. In Fig. 2, they are turned about a vertical axis. In Fig. 2, the corresponding parts are similarly lettered to Fig. l, with the addition of indices a b and so on.
Any desired number of adjacent elements may be used to form a boiler or heater and front and rear closing walls are inserted after the required number have been built in. The grate r, may be arranged in any convenient manner, for instance it may be supported from the front and rear walls and the ash tray t, may be similarly supported.
I claim: i
l. An element for a sectional heater, comprising a set of interconnected tubes arranged as a complete quadrilateral structure, flanged connections at two diagonally opposite corners of said structure, and branch pipes located within the space inclosed by the structure and arranged parallel to the vertical tubes thereof, each of said branch pipes having a vertical connection with one of the horizontal tubes of the structure and a lateral connection with the concurrent vertical tube, and said branch pipes in conjunction with the vertical and horizontal tubes inclosing side iiue spaces and a central iire space, substantially as hereinbefore set forth.
2. A sectional heater comprising a series of similar elements located adjacent to one another but oppositely arranged, said elements being composed of interconnected hollow limbs, arranged in substantially rectangular form, two branch pipes, each located near a corner of said rectangle and extending parallel to one of the concurrent limbs from said corner and a bend on the vend of each of said branch pipes connecting it to said concurrent limb.
