HOSE-CLAMP.
Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, FRANK I-I. BALDWIN, a citizen of the United States, residing at Ticonderoga, in the State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Hose-Clamps, of which the following is a specification.
The general object of the invention is to improve the construction of hose clamps and particularly those adapted for clamping or contracting a hose around a metallic pipe.
Other objects will appear and be better understood from the following description taken in connection with the accompanying drawings, in which,
Figure 1 is a perspective of the device. Fig. 2 is a detail of the stationary clamp member. Fig. 3 is a view similar to Fig. 2 of the movable clamp member. Fig. 4 is a detail of the support or yoke partly in section. Fig. 5 is a detail side elevation of the sliding jaw.
The clamping member or jaw 5 is centrally concaved as at 6 to conform to the configuration of the hose 7 and it is also recessed longitudinally as shown at 8 to receive the arms 9 of the yoke a. The arms 9 of the yoke a are out-turned as at 10 to provide feet for supporting the jaw 5. One of the arms 9 of the yoke is adapted to turn in the cross piece 11 thereof so as to aline the outturned portion 10 with the recess 8 of the jaw 5 to permit of detachment of the jaw from the yoke a. The sliding jaw 12 is centrally concaved as at 13 to cooperate with the concavity 6 of the jaw 5 to provide a circular opening for the hose 7.

the latter acting as guides for the aw 12.
15 indicates an adjusting bolt or screw screwed into the cross piece 11 of the yoke and swiveled or otherwise connected to the sliding jaw 12 so as to rotate therein.
In use, the portion of the hose surrounding the metallic pipe 16 is placed in the opening formed by the ooncavities of the jaws, it being understood that the jaw 12 has been previously adjusted so that the hose may be readily inserted through the said opening. This done the adjusting nut is turned in a direction so as to cause the sliding jaw to move toward the jaw 5 and pass through the recess 8. thereof. This will have the effect of contracting the opening presented by the jaws, whereby, the hose will be clamped.
Although I have shown and described one embodiment of my invention it is to be understood that I am not to be limited to the specific arrangement and construction of parts herein shown since various changes may be made, within the scope of the appended olaim without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.
What I claim as new is:
A hose clamp comprising clamping jaws having opposed curved gripping surfaces conforming to the curvature of a hose, one of said jaws being stationary and slotted to receive the other jaw which is movable, a yoke having a rotatable arm and forming a guide for the movable jaw, the arms of said yoke extending through the slot in the said stationary jaw and having their free end portions turned outward and forming a support for the said stationary jaw, and an adjusting screw carried by the yoke for the purpose described.
