GROCERS CABINET.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented June 18, 1912.
Application filed April 17, 1912. Serial No. 691,495.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, VERNER NORRLANDER, a citizen of the United States, residing at Rockford, in the county of Winnebago and State of Illinois, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Grocers Cabinets, of which the following is a specification.
The object of this invention is to construct a cabinet for grocers use, in which a plurality of drawers are located in tiers, and the upper structure containing the drawers rotatable on a stationary platform.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 is a plan view. Fig. 2 is an elevation in which one drawer is removed. Fig. 3 is a section on line o Z9 Fig. 5. Fig. 4 is a section on line e e Fig. 5. Fig. 5 is a section on line a a Fig. 2. Fig. 6 is a section on line c c Fig. 5. Fig. 7 is a section on line d Z Fig. 5.
The cabinet comprises lthe platform 1 which is provided with a circular track 2 secured to its upper face', and has a plate 3 formed with a ball-race within which are located balls 4. This plate is located cen trally of the platform. A pipe section 5 is secured in connection with the plate 3, and extends upward from the platform. Above the platform is located a base 6 to the underface of which are` received ball-rollers 7 which rest on the annular track 2. A plate 8 is secured to the underface of the base and is provided with a ball-race which receives the balls 4. To the upperface of the base is secured a plate 9 to'which are secured guide-ways v10, the free ends of which are connected to the edge bars 11, of the frame supporting devices. Vertical posts 12 eX- tend between the base 6 and the top 13, and other edge b-ars 14 separate the frame into drawer spaces. Each guide-way 10 is formed with a bevel groove 15 in its upper face. A section of tubing 16 surrounds the pipe section 5, and on its upper end is located a plate similar to the plate 9 and to which are connected guide-ways similar to the guide-ways 10 thereby forming the basis for another section of the cabinet. Other sections are built up in a like manner.
Within each drawer space is located a drawer which is in triangular shape. To the bottom 17 of the drawer is secured a guide 1S which embraces the guide-way 10 as shown at Fig. 7, which will prevent the lateral displacement of the drawer. To the `inner end 19 of the drawer is slidably connected a rod 20 and having an inturned upper end 21. With drawers located in the drawer spaces, the cabinet will appear as shown at Fig. 2. The drawer containing section can be rotated on the ball rollers and the central roller bearing which will present the tier of drawers desired. A drawer can be withdrawn until the rod 20 drops into the groove 15 which will limit the further withdrawal of the drawer. By raising the rod 20 free of the groove 15 the drawer can be withdrawn.
I claim as my invention.
1. A grocers cabinet comprising a plat form, a base located over the platform, a ball bearing between the base and platform, a center support, a spider arm encircling the support and forming guide-ways, a drawer' for each guide-way, and means for holding t-he drawer against withdrawal.
2. A grocers cabinet comprising a platform, a base located over the platform, a ball bearing between the base and platform, a center support, a plurality of spider arms encircling the support, a tubular section separating the arms, a drawer for each of the spider arms and guided in connection therewith.
In testimony whereof I have hereunto set my hand in presence of two subscribing witnesses.
