IMPROVED BROOM.
Spccijicatton forming part of Letters Patent No. 102,036, dated Moy 10, 1870.
' metallic brace braid for brooms and brushbrooms.
In order to enable others skilled in the art to which my invention appertains to make and use the same, I'wll now proceed to describe its construction and operation, referring to the annexed drawings, in Which- Figure lis a perspective View of a broom with my metallic brace braid attached, and

A represents the metallic brace braid, consisting of a strip of sheet metal, crimped, as
shown in Fig. 2, or the strip may be stamped or punched in proper shape, and answer fully as Well. v
Any desired number of these brace braids is placed on a broom at the girth or collar, ruiming up the handle from three to ve inches, and the Wire wound around in the corrugafions or grooves on the strips A A, said strips `forming braces and braids, holding the wire to its place, and also shielding the broom-- straw from being out bythe Wire.
These brace braids may be painted in any color desired, so as to form, as Well, au ornament for the broom, and they may -be applied or used on any kinds of brooms, brush-brooms, 85e.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-
A brace braid of' metal or other suitable material, When constructed and used on brooms, brush-brooms, 8vo., substantially in the manner and for the purposes herein set forth.
