Specification of Letters Patent. Application filed November 25, 1911. Serial No. 662,498.

To all whom it may concern Be it' known that I, MAY F. GARDNER, a citizen of the United States of America, residing at Pittsburgh, in the .county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in 'Penholders, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention .relates to pen holders, and the primary object of my invention is to provide a compartment adapted to contain accomplish the above results by a mechanian eradlcator or other erasing fluid.
Another object of this invention is to provide a pen holder with a compartment for an eradicator and to furnish the pen holder with novel means whereby a controllable quantity of theeradicator can be removed from the holderv for erasurepurposes.
A further object of this invention is to cal construction that is'durable, inexpensive to manufacture and highly eflicient for the purposes for which it is. intended.
With the above and other objects in view, the invention resides in the novel construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter specifically described and then claimed.
Reference will now be had to the drawing, wherein a Figure 1 is a side elevation of a pen holder in accordance with this invention, Fig. 2 is a similar view, partly broken away and partly in section, Fig. 3 is a side elevation of a detached cap, and Fig. 4 is an ,enlargeddetail sectional view of the same,

The reference numeral 1 denotes a pen holder, preferably made of glass or other vitreous material. holder is rounded, as at 2 and provided with a longitudinal opening 3, said opening being in communication ,with a compartment' 4 that is adapted to contain an eradicator or. an ink erasing fluid. In the opening 3 there is arranged a resilient bushing 5.

By compressing the bulb" 12 and then allowing the same to expand, a quantity of the eradicator or erasing fluid can be removed from the compartment 4. With a quantity of the eradicator within thetubular stem 9, the stem can be manipulated with the cap 6 serving as a handle, whereby ink can be readily removed from paper. The flow of eradicator is controlled by the pressure upon the bulb 12 and the quantity of eradicator that is not used can be easily returned to the compartment 4 by simply placing the cap 6 upon the rounded end of the holder 1. The pen holder has been especially designed for bookkeepers and writers having use for. eradicators and by using a pen holder in accordance with this invention, the necessity of having separate receptacles for eradicators or ink erasing fluids is obviated.
