SAMUEL DANIEL WATTS, OF MAOLEOD, ALBERTA, CANADA.
STAMP-CARRIER FOR FOUI\l'='J.AI1\'I' IIFTENS AND THE LIKE.
1&69346.
Specification of Letters Extent.
Patented Aug. 12,1913.
Application filed April 20, 1912. Serial No. 692,145.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, SAMUEL DANIEL l/VATrs, of the town of MacLeod, in the Province of Alberta, Canada, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Stamp-Carriers for Fountain-Pens and the Like, of which the following is the specification.
Figure 1, is a general perspective view of my device as applied to a fountain pen. Fig. 2, is a similar view to Fig. 1 showing the stamps partially fed out through the feed slot. Fig. 3, is a sectional view through Fig. 2. Fig. is a similar view to Fig. 3 taken at right angles thereto. Figs. 5, 6 and 7 are perspective details of the pen, magazine container and the magazine. 8, is a plan sectional view on line a:-y Fig. 3. Fig. 9 is a top plan view of the cap.
In the drawings like letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in each figure.
A is a fountain pen of any suitable form.
B is a containing sleeve designed to fit over the nib end of the pen and having a lon itudinal feed slot B therein.
(I? is a cap designed to fit over the open upper end of the sleeve B.
C is a base piece designed to fit freely within the sleeve B.
C is the main feed roller journaled at its lower end in the base piece C.
C is a turning knob turnably held in the orifice (l of the cap C. The lower end of the knob C is reduced and threaded into the upper end of the main feed roller C C 1s a supplemental feed roller journaled at its lower end in the base piece C and at its upper end in a link C swung upon the lower end of the shank of the turning knob C.
D is a pin extending upwardly fromthe base piece C and having an enlargement C at its lower end.
2 is the stamp strip which is wound into a roll 3 around the pen D. The free endof the strip faces between the main and supplemental feed rollers through the feed slot B of the sleeve B.
It will thus be seen that all that it is necessary to do when it is desired to use a stamp is to turn the knob C so as to feed the strip of stamps through the slot B by twisting the cap C, said cap being free to move by virtue of the slot E a sufficient distance to allow of a stamp being torn off from. the strip.
I also provide a spring finger 4 connected to the cap C which as shown in Fig. 1 forms a cover for the slot B and also serves as a retainer to hold the fountain pen in the pocket of the user.
From this description it will be seen that I have devised a very simple compact device for containing stamps which may be connected to a fountain pen or pencil so that the stamps will always be in readiness for use.
What I claim as my invention is- 1. A stamp carrier comprising a sleeve adapted to form an end covering for a pen or pencil and provided with a longitudinal slot, a disk carried centrally of said sleeve, a stamp carrying standard carried by the disk, a feed roller carried by the disk, a cover for one extremity of the sleeve, an operating handle for said feed roller extending through the cover, a supplemented feed roller carried by the disk, said feed rollers being adapted to move the stamps through the longitudinal slot in the sleeve, and means attached to the cover exterior of the sleeve for closing said longitudinal slot.
2. A stamp carrier comprising a sleeve adapted to form an end covering for the pen or pencil point and having a longitudinal feed slot therein located above said point, a cap for the upper or open end of the sleeve, a base piece held freely within the sleeve, a vertical pin extending upwardly from the base piece, a feed roller journaled at its lower end in the base piece and at its upper end in the cap, a turning knob for the feed roller, a supplemental feed roller located to the opposite side of the feed slot and journaled at its lower end in the base piece, and a link connecting the upper end of the supplemental roller to the main roller as and for the'purpose specified.
3. A stamp carrier comprising a sleeve adapted to form an end covering for the pen or pencil point and having a feed slot therein located above said point, a cap for the upper or openend of the sleeve, a base piece held freely within the sleeve, a vertical spindle extending upwardly from the base piece, a feed roller journaled at its lower end in the base piece and at its upper end in the cap, a turning knob for the feed roller, a forming a cover for the feed slot as and for supplemental feed roller located to the op the purpose specified. poslte side of the feed slot and journaled at its lower end in the base piece, and a link SAMUEL DANIEL WATTS eonnecting the upper end of the supple- Witnesses: mentalroller to the main roller, and a de- J.
