ther wood-work of the 'house may be scrubbed, andv wiped or x'nopped, and"the mop wrung out, without its .being necessary for the operator to stoop or wet her hands; and
It consistsfin' the combined scrubbing-brush, mop,
`and wringer, constructed and arrangedv as hereinafter or handle, O, for convenience 4in bearing down upon or raising the instrument; y t
Tot-he back of thebrush A, 'near its ends, are ate taehed two short uprights, D',the upper ends of which arev connected by a horizontal rod, E. 1f desired, the rod E anduiprights D maybe made in one piece and 4bent twice at right angle-s to form the uprights Upon the rod E is placed a sponge, F, preferably of cylindrical form.
Upon the rod E, at each end of the sponge or mop F, is placed a disk, G, so that the water may be squeezed out of the said sponge F by pressing the said disks G toward each other.
H are two levers, upon the lower ends o f which are formed eyes or hooks, which are placed upon the rod E at the outer sides ofthe disks G.
The levers. H cross each other, and are pivoted at their point of intersection to the middle part of the handle B, and their free ends or handles extend up l nearly to the end of the handle B.
By this construction, by pressing the -free ends of the levers H toward each other, the sponge F will be compressed and the water squeezed out.
By this construetiomthe iioor or other surface may be scrubbed with the brush A, wiped or washedw-ith Witnesses:
