Be it known that I, AUGUST SOHULZ, a subject of the German Emperor, and residing at Posen, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Reflecting Apparatus for Illuminating Music, of which the following is a specifi cation.
The subject-matter of my invention is reflecting apparatus, for illuminating music, which is normally merely placed on the 'pi'anoforte and can be at any time readily apparatus on a pianoforte, and Fig. 3 shows a detail view.
Referring to the drawing, my reflecting apparatus comprises a polished board a, as the support for any desired source of light on and a mirror It secured in a metal frame 9 This frame is carried by two supports 7) attached to the board a. At-

tached to the pivots of the supports 1) at the frame 9 are arms 0 which have their free ends formed as hooks and engage with these in toothed racks f mounted on the board. By means of these arms 0 the distance of the mirror from the source of light can be varied within limits as desired. The inclination of the mirror relatively to the source of light can likewise be varied as desired by a rack d. As is seen from Fig. 2 the rays from the source of light strike only on the part 0 of the musical instrument containing the keys and carrying the music n while the eye 10 of the player is protected therefrom.
I claim In reflecting apparatus for illuminating music supported on musical instruments, the combination of a board to be placed on the instrument, two supports pivotally attached thereto, a frame carrying a mirror pivotally carried by said supports, a rack pivotally attached to said frame and adapted to engage one of said supports, a rack secured to said board, and a hooked rod pivotally attached to the pivot connecting one of said supports with said frame and adapted to engage the latter rack.
