improvements in butter plates of which. the following is the specification, its object 1s to pose and which more especiallylcan be nested in transportation.
In the drawings :-Figure 1, is a plan View of a dish, one end being formed or yshaped and the other end in the process of formation. Fig. 2, is the right end View of Fig. l. Fig. 3, is a sideview of one end.
Fig. 4, is a view of the blank of which the dishes are formed in reduced scale. Fig. 5, 1s a similar v1ew, particularly on the l1ne of Fig. l but showing how two dishes are nested, both of which are sectioned.
In the drawings, similar` letters refer to similar parts.
In the drawings, A represents a blank formed from tough cardboard or paper of the outline shown in said figure. Considering the View to be the inside and bottom of the disk when formed, the lines af-a are the -first lines of folds with an interior angle,
the ends B, B, being raised by such folding and then forming a second fold, on the doti ted .lines b-b, with an external angle toward the observer, as shown in Fig. '1.' ""In scoring b, b,fand a, a, inclose a triangular or gusset portion. As these folds are carried to the point of bringing the surfaces all in contact, as shown at the right hand side o f Specification of Letters Patent.

Fig. l, and the end view of Fig. 2; the Sides C, C, are brought into a lateral position by folding to an'obtuse angle along the lines c-c and with a corresponding angle to the end piece A formed along the angle o. When these are closed as at the right hand of Fig. 1, one staple D is fastened through all of the thicknesses holding them all in position and when both ends are thus fastened,\the dish is completed having an external form as shown in the end view of Fig. 2. In this'manncr, but one staple is used for each end and the blank contains no indentations or other cutting than merely shaping in the form in Fig. 4 and both ends can be folded and fastened in one operation. -When so folded, and fastened, they nest as shown in Fig. 5 in which the exterior of the dish' is shown as E and the interior dish is shown as F, it being obvious that any number of` dishes can be nested, a sectional-view.
found in experience that such dishes will not nest and therefore we have attained a result not before known by the improvement which we have hereinbefore described.
Having thus described our invention, what we desire to claim is A 4butter dish, comprising a blank having a central rectangular scoring and a pair of -divergent scorings extending from each corner of themreotangular scoring to the edge of the blank, forming the sides and end pleces of the shape of a truncated .triangle and separated from the sides by gussets of the shape of inverted triangles, the gussets be- In testimony whereof, We sign this specifiing folded on the inside of the end pieces cation in the presence of Witnesses.
