Be it known that I, FREDERICK W. KoHL- MYER, citizen of the United States, residing at Cleveland, in the county of Cuyahoga and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Guards for Polishing or Grinding Wheels, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to hoods for polishing or grinding wheels, and has for its object to provide an improved hood which can be moved out of position when desired.
A further novel feature is a grating in the hood to catch small articles that may drop while being polished.
The invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings in which- Figure 1 is a side elevation of the device. Fig. 2 is a section, on the line 2-2 of Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is a side elevation opposite to Fig. 1.

The mouth of the tube 9 is provided with a small wire grating 11 which rests thereon and which serves to catch small articles which may be dropped into the hood or beside the wheel while being polished. This grating is held in position by the hood which fits around the same.
What I claim is:
1. In a guard for a polishing wheel or the like, the combination with a suction pipe having opposite guides at the month thereof, of a hood provided with flanges at opposite sides slidable in said guides, whereby the hood may be removed, and a latch carried by the hood and engageable with the pipe,'to hold the hood in position thereon.
2. The combination of a suction pipe, a hood thereon, and a grating resting on the mouth of the suction pipe, the hood fitting around the edge of the grating, to hold the same in position.
