subjects of the and useful Attachment for Electric Lights, of which the following is a clear and concise specification.
The objects of our invention are to prof vide a dust proof reflector; to provide a plurality of triangular prisms so connected and secured to the reflector supporting the said prisms as to prevent the dust from accumulating on the back of. each of the prisms as well as on the face of vthe reflector; to prolvide a dust proof shade andrellector to increase the brilliancy and to show colored rays'pf light. We' accomplish these as well as minor objects by the construction now preferred by us and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which- F1gure1 is the vertical section ofthe lamp shade reflector and prisms; Fig. 2 is a: front elevation of the preferred form of my device; Fig. 3 is a horizontal. section of A the prismr showing how the prisms are connected to prevent dust from entering therebetween; Fig. 4 is a modification of our device in which we have provided a plurality of colored lights surroundin the main light which colored lightstaket e place of the reflector as illustrated in the Figs. vl and 2 and Figs. 5 and 6 are modifications of thearrangementofthe lights of our device.

Said diaphragm 4 is preferably. provided withy an annular flange 7 which rests against thev face of the flange 4.8 which is secured or formed integral with both the shade 2 and the plurality of Jreflectors 3. To secure said diaphragm 4 to said reflectors 3, we have pro- .vided an annular metallic'housing 9 which is .provided with a hinge 10 at one side and lresiding in thecounty of King and State. of Washington, have jointly invented a new` yielding catch 11 diametricallyopposite the hinge.. Said hinge lO'is secured to an an- 'nularframe piece 12 which\frame piece 12 rests against oneface of the flange 7 of said diaphragm 4 thus holding theopposite face in contact with. the flange 8, it being obvious that the'housing 9 is prevented from movement by an annular depending flange 13 engaging the backof the flange 8.V
Some of the rays of light from the lamp 1 strike' the colored reflecting planes 3 which in turn direct the rays into the prism 5 giving pleasing color variations which added to the direct color variation accomplished .by the rays of light. passing through the triangular prisms 5 causing the `diaphragm 4 to be highly illuminated in colors which arel very beautiful and pleasing to theeye.
We have provided a means for oscillating the diaphragm 4 which comprises a solenoid having the movable core 14 thereof secured to the prisms 5 by means of the studs 15, it
being obvious that if tl'i'e current is intermittently supplied that said solenoid vwill draw the core 14 in one direct-ion which acting against the spring 16 when the current is released will tend to draw said core inthe opposite direction.
.In Fig. 4 we have shown the modification of our device in which the lamp 17 i's'proasr vided'to take the place of said electric light globe 1. We have provided a plurality of' colored lamps 18 arranged around the lam 17 causinga similar color effect to the colored reflectors 3 above described. These y'lamps 18'and the central lamp 17 throw their 'rays of light toward the diaphragm 19 and triangular prisms similar to the prisms 5 which direct the colored rays of the colored Our invention consists essentially of an lamps 18 as well as the rays from the lam 17. It 1s obvious that numerous modifications of our device are possible' and we do not .wish to be limited to the specific construction herein `set forth andillustrated in the accompanying drawings but wish to depart from such details as are within the scope of the claim appended hereto.
Having thusdescribed v our invention what we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
In an attachment for lamps, a plurality of dii/ergent colored reflectors, a diaphragm comprising a plurality of triangular prisms hermetically connected to each other and resting against said colored reflectors, means whereby said diaphragm may be detachably secured to 'said reflectors and a means for oscillating said diaphragm to cause visual changes.
