To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, FRANK C. DAvIs, acitizen of the United States, residing at Tucson, in the county of Pima and State of Arizona., have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Broom and Mop Holders; and I do hereby declare the fo-llowing to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.

This invention relates to certain new and useful improvements in broom and mop holders, the object being to provide a device by means of which handleless brooms can be readily secured Within the holder or detached therefrom.

Ano-ther object of my invention is to provide a holder which is so constructed that the same will hold a broom head or a mop rmly in position to be used.

A still further object of my invention is to provide a dust blower in connection with the holder, whereby the dust collected within the broom head will be blown therefrom in order to keep the broom clean. p

With these objects in view, the invention consists in the novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts, hereinafter fully described and pointed o-ut in the claim.

In the drawing forming a part of this specification, Figure 1 is a side elevation of my improved holder showing a broom head arranged in position therein. Fig. 2 is a side elevation of the broom head. Fig. 3 is a side elevation of a head with the handle removed, which is capable of being placed within the holder. Fig. 4 shows a side elevation of a broom holder with a dust blower attached. Fig. 5 is an edge elevation of the holder, showing a modified means of securing the cylinder to the head. Fig. 6 is a front elevation of Fig. 5. Fig. 7 is a detail vertical section through the pump, and, Fig. 8 is a plan view of the clamp.

Referring to the drawings, 1 indicates my improved holder which comprises a head 2 having depending arms 3 carrying a clamp 4 for securing a broom head 5 therein, in such a manner that it will be held securely and yet be capable of being readily detached in order to use the holder for a mop. The head 2 is provided with a socket member 6 adapted to receive a handle 7 which is secured therein by any suitable means. The clamp 4 is preferably constructe-d of wire, as clearly shown, and has its end portions mounted in eyes formed at the ends of the arms` 3, whereby the clamping member 8 can be swung downwardly so as to clamp the broom.

In Fig. 4 lI show a pump cylinder 9 attached to the head 2 having the handle 10 slidably mounted therein forming a piston rod provided wit-h a piston head as will be later described. Mounted on the upper end of said cylinder 9, in any preferred manner, is a socket 9a similar to the socket 6 before described, and said pump cylinder is provided with a tube 11 extending therefrom, adapted to pass through the broom head, so that when the tube is forced downwardly, the air in the cylinder is forced down through the tube to remove the dust from the broom.

The handle or piston rod 10 carries a .piston head 12 and a spring cushion 13 for checking the downward movement of the piston, and it will be seen that by operating the pistonrod or handle, air will be forced out through the tube.

In Figs. 5 and 6, I have shown a slightly modified form of securing means between the pump cylinder and the head, which consists in providing the lower end of the pump cylinder 9 with an annular collar 9b, which collar is split to receive the head 14, and a clamping ring 15 is used to clamp the cylinder upon said head in such a manner that the same may be readily attached or detached.

From the foregoing description, it will be seen that I have provided a mop and broom holder to hold a broom head or mop, and one which is so constructed that a blower can be attached in the form of a pump which carries a piston adapted to be used as a handle so that when pressure is placed on the broom, the piston will be forced downwardly in order to force the dust out of the broom.

What I claim is:-

A holder of the kind described, comprising a head provided With depending arms carrying a, clamp for securing a, mop or broom, a socket member carried by 'said holder, and means coperating with said socket member for removing the dust from the broom, said means also forming a, handie for said broom.
