MAX WITTENBERG, 0F MANCHESTER, ENGLAND.
MOUTI-IPIECE FOR TOBACCO-PIPES AND OIGARETTE-HOLDERSL Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed April 25, 1911. Serial No. 623,185.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, MAX WITTENBERG, a subject of the King of Great Britain and Ireland, and resident of Manchester, Eng land, have invented an Improved Mouthpiece for Tobacco-Pipes and Cigarette- Holders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to an improvement in the mouthpiece of tobacco pipes and cigarette holders of the class constructed with the object of diverting the smoke from the throat or tongue toward the roof of the mouth, and preventing either the nicotine entering the mouth or the saliva entering the tube of the mouthpiece.
Referring to the accompanying'drawing Figure l is a perspective view, Fig. 2 a plan, Fig. 3 a side view, and Fig. 4 an end View of my improved mouthpiece for tobacco pipes and cigarette holders, the same letters referringtolike parts in the several views.
According to my said invention and for the purpose hereinbefore named, I make the mouthpiece-Jot a tobacco pipe or cigarette holder of an improved form, the lip or projection 'a being curved upwardly and outwardly from the bottom of the bite I) as shown in Fig. 2, the outlet 0 for the smoke in the space d being level with the bottom of the inner side of the curved portion of the lip a and each of the sides d slightly inclined downward. The ridge of the bite prevents the teeth of the smoker slipping into the space d. The lip a is rounded and presents a convex surface on that side. which thetongue comes against.
What I claim is A mouthpiece for tobacco pipes and cigarette holders the bite end of which has a small ridge and the face of which bite end lies at right angles to the longitudinal axis of the mouthpiece from a point below the bore of the mouthpiece and which also has a lip or projection below the bore, said lip or projection extending outwardly and away from the said face of the'bite and then upwardly at an oblique angle to a point level with the top of the said ridge, thebottom or floor of the channel left between the lip and bite being inclined from the center downward to the outer edges and the face of the lip opposite the said face of the bite being inclined outwardly from the lower to the upper end, so as to direct the smoke upwardly and against the roof of the smokers mouth, as set forth. p
In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand in the presence of two witnesses.
MAX WITTENBERG.
