rmnrnns CHASE-RACK.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented May 7, 1912.
Application filed January 4, 1911.- Serial No. 600,708.
i ailOWfl that We, AUGUST F. Os'rnu- List. a; t "1IFLI'D S. ELMQUIST, citizens of the. llluiteu States, residing at St. Paul, in the enmity of Ramsey and State of Minne- 3 invented a new and useful Inn r in Printers Chase-Racks, of which the following is a specification.
()ur invention relates to improvements in racks for printers chases and its object is to provide a rack into which the chases will slide easily, accommodating chases of different sizes and keeping them' in an upright position and separated for use. Our device accomplishes these objects in a' compact rigid frame with two tiers of racks accessible on each side.
In the drawings with which we have illustrated our device and which form a part of the specification, Figure l is a perspective of our device with chases in position, and Fig. 2 an end elevation of the rack.
In these drawings is shown a rack A made up of bottom frame B and top frame C spaced apart by posts. The frames are rectangular, the frame 13 being Wider than the frame C, and made up of side pieces 2 and end pieces 8 with a cross piece 4. On the end pieces 3 and cross piece 4 stand the posts 5, 6 and '7, carrying the top frame C which is made up of sides and ends The posts 6 and 7 on the center line of the rise above the top frame (l and support a longitudinal bar 10 to the sides of which are bolted angle bar spacers l, which have notches 12 cut in the outstanding leg of the angle. llalid-way between the top and bottom frames the posts 6 and 7 carry longitudinal bars 13 with spacers 14 similar to spacers 11.. The side pieces 8 of the frtune C support grooved slid r. 15 which extend trans 'versely It oss the frame and L'Oll'PSl'KHHl i in as to give free access to the chases resting in them.
The position of the spacers ll and 14 above the slides 15 and 18 such as to sup port the chases on edge in the slides, the
frame C being fitted to the smaller chases and the frame B to the larger chases. The spacers 11 and 14 on either side of the longitudinal bars 10 and 13 at the center of the rack, provide support for chases on both sides of the rack as shown in the drawings. The rack is stiffened laterally by braces 19 between posts 6 and the end pieces 3.
In accordance with the patent statutes we have described the principles of operation of our invention together with the apparatus which we now consider to represent the best embodiment thereof but we desire to have it understood that the construction shown is only illustrative and that the invention can be carried out by other means and applied to uses other than those above set forth within the scope of the following claims.
to receive and engage the forwn rd edges of cha slid into said channels, Win-Richy chases may be supported in substantially vertical position on each side of said spacing bar in eacu of said channels.
2; in a printers chase rack, a supporting frame, a series of channel irons disposed on said frame in substantially parallel horizon tal position each of said irons having its concave side upward to receive the edge of a chase slid therein, and a spacing bar mounted on said frame above said hannel irons and spaced away from the ends there of. having no lies dire .ly l. 4 said tljfllh nel irons mlapted to plates slid into the -30] nel irons and ccipci dir tain said chases in 1'0 l position.
in te tinlony whoa-w. have signed our names to this spmiilicu ion. in the presence two subscribing tncs os.
