Description
J. H. FLYNT.
Watch Dust-Cap. 1, No. 102,527. Patented May 3,1870.

JAMES H. FLYNT, OF SOUTH BEND, INDIANA.
Letters Patent No. 102,527, dated May 3, 1870.
mpnovnmmu 11v DUST-RING r012 WATCH-FRAMES.
The Schedulereferred, to in these Letters Patent and'mlking part of the same.
To all whom a; may concern- Be it known that I, JAMES H. FLYNT, of South Bend, in the county of St. Joseph and State of lndi-r the pillars, and to the recesses in the upper plate un-.
der the barrel-bridge, all as hereinafter specified.
'Figure 1 represents a side elevationof a movement provided with my improved dust-ring, showing the arrangement of the same opposite the barrel.
' Figure 2 represents another side elevation, showing the arrangement of the joint; and
Figure 3 represents a horizontal section of the.
same.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding p r v A represents the ring, which I fit suuglg; in between the twoplates B and '0, so as to rest against the pillars D,
I-make the ends thicker than the other parts for the reception of the holding-screw, and provide a tongue, E, on one, fitting a recess, F, in the other, and this joint I arrange at the proper place to be held, by the movement-screw G, or another screw may be used.
In order to prevent the springing of the ring at the barrel against the same, or the springing of it elsewhere to draw it in at thatpoint, I provide a projectiou, H, in the upper edge, risingjnto the recess in I the upper plate underthe barrel-bridge. The-points between the ends of this projection and the upper plate being on radial'lines, prevent the ring from springing inward, whether encountering pressure here or elsewhere.
At this point, also, I curve the ring outward, as
represented in fig. 3, to make room for the barrel.
It will be observed that this ring may be removed readily by taking out the screw G.
Having thus described my invention,
\Vhat I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent. is
1. The unbroken dust-ring A, having projection E and recess F thereon, combined with a screwG to fasten it between the plates B O, in the manner dcdescribed.
2. A dust-ring for watch-frames, having a raised projection, H, on the edge thereof, to prevent it from being sprung against the main wheel, in the manner described;
JAMES H. FLYN '1. Witnesses:
