To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Monrrz SAENGER, a subject of the German Emperor, and resident of Magdeburg, Germany, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Improved Medical Spraying- Syringes, of which the following is a specification.
The object of the present invention is an improved spraying-syringe or vaporizer especially adapted for medical use and intended for spraying concentrated solutions of very powerful medicines. \Vith the ap paratus at present known, this method of operation is scarcely practicable, because the instruments in question do not allow of the exact measuring of the dose to be administered. The present invention concerns an apparatus which is destined to overcome this difliculty because it allows the spraying of as small a quantity as may be required of the liquid without any of said liquid remaining in the apparatus. In order to obtain this result the syringe is fitted with U shaped tubes and is constructed in such a manner that it is impossible for the air to escape by the passage which contains the liquid to be vaporized except by driving before it the whole of the said fluid. To this end, the whole or only a portion of this part of the apparatus is made with a capillary diameter or in any case of a very small diameter indeed and under these conditions it is possible to spray as small a quantity of fluid as can practically be measured without there remaining in the syringe more than an infinitesimal fraction of a droplet. The use of the capillary section procures a further advantage since it allows the suppression of the necessity of blowing into the apparatus, an excellent pulverization being obtained by a slight suction of the lips on the mouth of the syringe. This suction or inhaling creates a current in the body which carries the pulverized mass along in the desired direct-ion, since a stream which enters the mouth is obliged to change its direction in order to reach the respiratory organs it will be easily understood that a suction Specification of Letters Patent.

The attached drawing represents in vertical section as an example one method of executing the invention.
The Vaporizer is made in the usual manner with a U shaped tube 6 in which is placed the fluid to be vaporized. The invention consists in giving to the interior of the tube 0 an extremely small dimension, for instance a capillary size. I claim:
A medical spraying syringe comprising in combination a U shaped capillary tube for the liquid to be sprayed, a horizontal branch at the front end of said capillary tube, a tube for the air under pressure arranged above said capillary tube and surrounding the horizontal front end of the same, and an air inlet at the rear end of said air tube, substantially as described and shown and for the purpose set forth.
