To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that l, JoHN SoLoMoN Henner, a A.subject of the King of Great Britain, residing at Gallatin, in the county of Allegheny and State of Pennsylvania, have invented. certain new and useful Improvements in Envelops, of which the following is a specification, reference being had thereln to theraccompa'nylng drawing.
This invention relates to envelops, and the yobjects of lny invention are to furnish an envelop with positiveand reliable means in a manner asrwill be hereinafter set forth whereby the contents of the envelop cannot be surreptitiously removed without detec tion,and to provide an envelop that can be advantageously used for transmitting valuable matter by mail or express.
Further objects of the invention are tov provide an envelop with a novel lining that will further frustrate the efforts of a person from fraudulently removing 4the contents of the envelop and to accomplish the aboveresults by an envelop that is simple in construction7 durable, easy to seal and inexpensive to manufacture.

bination and arrangement of parts to be presently described in detail and then claimed.
Reference'will now be had to the drawing, wherein yFigure 1 is a vplan the envelop is made, Fig. 2 is a plan upon a smaller scale of a lining for the envelop, Fig. 3 is a plan of the lenvelop sealed, F ig. 4 is a longitudinal seetional view of the same, and Fig. 5 is a cross sectional view.
An envelop in accordance with this invention comprises a rectangular body l having triangular-shaped end flaps 2 adapted to be folded upon the dotted lines 3. The lower edge ofthe bodyl is provided with va bottom lia-p 4 adapted to be folded upon the dotted line 5 on to the body 1 and the end flaps 2, the edges of the bottoni flap e being gummed or provided with adhesive material 6, which. `when, inoistened, will cause the bottoni fiap l to adhere to the lower angular edges of the end flaps 2. Centrally of the bot-tem flap Il are tivo longitudinal slits 7 providing a longitudinal strap 8, the purpose of which will whereby the weight o'f the of a blank from which presently appear. The upper edge of the body 1 is provided with a sealing flap 9 adapted to be folded upon the dotted'line l0, said sealing flap having the edges the1'e', of gummed or provided with adhesive material 11.
`The envelop blank is provided with a lining, preferably made of light tissu'e paper envelop will not be` materially increased for mailing purposes. The tissue paper lining comprises a rectangular body 12 corresponding in' area to the body 1, said body having end` aps 13, a bottom flap 14 and a top lap15. Thel top flap 15 is provided with a tongue 16, perforations 17 and adhesive material 18. The bottom flap 14 is gummed or provided with adhesive material 19, and after the end flaps 13 have been folded upon the body 12, the bottom flap 14 is secured through the medium of the adhesive material 19 to the end flap 13. The tissue paper envelop thus formed is inserted in the main envelop and is in condition to receivethe matter to be. inclosed.
Assuming that the matter has been placed within the envelop, the topflap 15 of the lining is folded, the tongue 16 moistened and inserted under the strap 8 of `the bottom' lia-p 4; of the main envelop. Pressurerupon the outer side of the tongue 16 causes said tongue to adhere to the outer side of the bottom flap 4. IThe sealing flap 9 of the envelop can then be moistened and closed,
and caused yto adhere to the iaps 2, land 5, the sealing ap 9 being slightly larger than Ythe top iap 15, whereby the edges of the sealing flap 9 will overlap the edges of the top flap 15.' As a further precaution against unauthorized opening of the envelop, the sealing'iiap 9 is provided with a series of perforations 20 adjacent Ato the edges thereof, and these perforations coperate with the perforations 17 of the top flap 15 in detect? lng any tamperingfwith the envelop.l
From the foregoing it will beobservedthatV l have devised an inclo'sure which is 'practically one envelop within another, the
two envelops being arranged whereby it is impossible for 'the contents of the inner envelop bang obtained without some portion of the inner envelop or outer envelop being marred or injured.
