Application filed April 7, 1911. Serial No. 819,598.
ing to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
Thisinvention relates to improvements in window locks, and particularly to bodily removable locks which may be applied and removed whenever desired.
The object in. view is the construction of a locking device formed substantially as a wedge and designed to be placed between the window sash and window frame in such a manner as to lock the sash against any movement which tends to open the same.
A further object of the invention is the arrangement of a wedge lock formed with an elongated body portion having-a stiffening member, a pair of points or claw members, and ears which are designed to be used in applying and removing the device, the whole arrangement being such as to present a stiff, strong structure designed to be wedgedbetween a window sash and its retaining frame.
With these and other objects in view the invention comprises certain novel constructions, combinations, and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.

.Referring to the accompanying drawings by numerals, 1 indicates a window sash and :2 the frame for holding in place the sash. Arranged to be wedged between sash 1 and frame 2 is a substantially wedge shaped and the frame in such a manner as to prememoving the device.

The front of the ody portion 4 is divided, and is formed into hook members 7 and 8 having pointed ends 9 and 10 and offset portions 11 and 12. When the device is in oporation the pointed ends 9 and'lO are designed to enter frame 2 a sufficient distance for the offset portions 11 and 12 to press against the frame which will prevent any further movement. This is also true where the window is partially open, as it is readily evident that the device may be applied to the sash even when the-same is partially open so as to prevent any' further opening thereof. Of course, the window ma belowered if partially open, but insuc an event the device will eight thereof, that remain in engagement with frame 2 and any subsequent openin of the window will be limited by the locking member 3.

A. window lock comprising a body portion formed substantiall flat throughout, and beveled at one end or defining an entering point, and bent down centrally for defining a cord receiving groove and a c ntral longitudinal bracing rib, a pointed end structure extending at an angle to the body portion and designed to cause the body portion to be positioned at an angle when in operation, and means extending from the body portion designed to be used when applying and removing the devioe.
