CRIIE, a citizen of the Ilnited States of runerica. residing at Hillishurg. in the county of Clinten and State of Indiana, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Compounds for Removing (arbcn from Engine-Cylinders, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to compounds for removing carln'n from the cylinders of internal co .ibustion engines. and one of the principal objects of the inventi n is to provide an inexpensive compound for loosening the carbon from the inner walls of cylinders of gas engines 6-0 that the carbon may be blmvn out in small particles through the exhaust.
Another object of the invention is to produce a compound to be inserted within the cylinder of the engine while hot to disintegrate the carbon which interferes with the operation of the engine and to permit the carbon in small particles to be blown out through the exhaust when the engine is started.
In carrying out my invention, I make use of a compound made after the following formula: table or rock salt 1 pound, saltpeter pound, pulvmcinchona bam pound, powdered zinc :1 ounce. carliolic acid 3 ounce. These ingredients. with the exception of the carbolic acid, are to be sepaately ground or pulverized and then thoroughly mixed together in a suitable vessel.

be briefly described as follows; The spark plug of the engine may be removed and immersed in coal oil or vinegar for cleaning the same after which it is replaced and 40 about one-half ounce of the compound is placed in the cylinder while the latter is hot and the engine is then started and run about five or ten minutes. This compound will loosen the carbon from the surface inside the cylinder and it can then be readilyblown out through the exhaust in small particles.
My compound is made up of inexpensive ingredients and will thoroughly clean a foul engine in a very few minutes.
I claim:
1. A compound for removing carbon from internal combustion engines consisting of salt, pulverized (inchona bark, saltpeter, powdered zinc. and carbolic acid, in sub- 5 stantially the portions described.
2. A compound for removing carbon from internal combustion engines consisting of one pound of table or rock salt, one-half pound of saltpeter, onefourth pound of 30 pulverized Cinchona bark, one-half ounce of powdered zinc and one-fourth ounce of carbolic acid, all the ingredients, excepting the carbolic acid, being ground or pulverized and mixed together.
