DECARBONIZING COMPOUND.

Be it known that I, ROY D. PRICE, a citizen of the United States, residing at IVaggoner, in the county of Montgomery and State of Illinois, have invented new and useful Improvements in Decarbonizing Compounds, of which the following is a specification.
.My invention relates to a compound for use in removing the carbon deposits from the cylinders of gasolene engines ,and like internal combustion motors, the primary object of the invention being to provide a compound which when introduced will free the deposits and place them in condition to be consumed or discharged in the operation of the engine. 4
In carrying my invention into practice, I provide a decarbonizing composition consisting of the following ingredients, to wit :denatured alcohol, 25%; graphite, 1%: carbon disulfid, 25%; kerosene, (coal oil) 25%; and lubricating oil, (No. 1 gradeJ 24%.
If desired, the graphite can be omitted and an additional added to the lubricating oil. The lubricating oil of No. 1 grade has the following properties :gravity, 27.; flash, 390.; fire, 440.; cold, 5.; and viscocity, 225 at 100. I
In the use of the compound, a small amount, say one-fourth of an ounce, is introduced into each cylinder of the motor, allowed to stand for an hour, and the motor then started. This composition not only loosens the carbon deposits, and internally cleans the cylinder and working parts of the motor, but also provides a mass Within the cylinder which will be raised to the point of incandescence during the ensuing explosions when the motor is at work, whereby a large proportion of the carbon will be consumed and that which is not consumed will be discharged with the exhaust. The compound may be employed at any time, when the engine is hot and has been Working for a greater or less period, or When the engine is cold from standing idle, and is highly efficient as a cleansing agent.

The proportions of these ingredients, as given, is of importance in this compound, for the reason that the alcohol, carbon disulfid and kerosene are designed to be comblned or blended in proper proportions to form a combustible gas or vapor, the heat developing qualities of which are increased or intensified by the carbon disulfid, whereby the temperature within the cylinder Will be raised during the burning of the mixture to the point of incandescence of the carbon, so that a large proportion of the carbon will be consumed, with the result of considerably diminishing the amount of carbon to beer;- pelled. By this means the removal and discharge of the carbon deposits in the form of a powder or pasty mass, which can not be discharged without dismantling the motor or injury to the valves, is entirely avoided, the compound effecting a substantially thorough cleansing f the engine cylinder without injury to any of the parts of the engine or liability of clogging the valves or passages.
I claim 1. A compound for use in removing carbon deposits from engines, consisting of alcohol, 25%; carbon disulfid, about 25% a hydrocarbon oil, about 25%; and a lubricating oil from 24 to 25%.
2. A compound for use in removing carbon deposits from engines, consisting of alcohol, 25%: graphite, 1%; carbon, 25%; kerosene, 25%; and a lubricating oil, about 24% In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two Witnesses.
