Specification of Letters Patent.

To all whom it may concern.-
Beit known that I, CLARENCE W. Davoon, a citizen of the United States of America,
residing at Detroit, in the county of lVayne and State of Michigan, have invented certain new-and useful Improvements in Clips for Metallic Window-Sash, of which the followingis a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawings.
The invcntion rel'ates to a construction of metallic window sashes and more particularlyto the means employed for securing the window pane in position while the putty is still in a plastic condition.
With wooden window sashes it is a usual practice to secure the frames in position by triangular metallic fasteners the point of which are placed into the wood, but with metallic frames such devices are as a matter of course not applicable. I therefore have devised a temporary fastener for the pane consisting essentially in a bendable point which engages an aperture in the sash bar and is bent to form retaining hooks for the glass. This securing device may be made in various forms as illustrated in the draw- Figure 1 is a section through a metallic window sash showing one form of securing clip; Fig. 2 is a similar view showing a modified construction; and Fig. 3 is another modification.
A is one of the metallic bars of the window sash which is provided with the flange B and B against which the glass bears, and the intermediate flange C.
D are apertures extending through the flanges 0 adjacent to the flanges B, and E is the securing device engaging said aperture.
As shown in Fig. 1, the securing device E is a piece of wire bent into U shaped form, the central portion engaging the aperture D. Parallel portions of this U shaped member extend between the cross bars C and the window pane F and will permit of the insertion oi the latter. To secure the panes from disengagement the end portions G of the U are bent over the glass and will then hold it from displacement.
In Fig. 2 a modified construction is shown in which the securing portion of the U is bent into a triangular form.
In Fig. 3 the securing portionis formed by a roll or spiral bend in the end of the wire.
In all of the various constructions a bendable metallic element is employed which ongages an aperture in the sash bar.
What I claim as my invention is:
1. The combination with a T-shaped muntin, the glass being adapted to engage the angle betweenrthe stem and head of the T, and the stem having an aperture intermediate the head of the muntin and the plane of the outer face of the glass, of a bendable metal clip passing through said aperture and having the ends thereof bent to bear upon the glass.
2. The combination with a T-shaped muntin, the glass being adapted to engage the angle between the stem and head of the T, and the stem having an aperture intermediate the head of the muntin and the plane of the outer face of the glass, of a metallic clip passing through said aperture and bent to form portions arranged between the ends of the glass and the stem of the muntin, the ends of said clip bearing upon the glass.
