Between the flange20 and the flared walls 18 each of the castings 15 is formed with an aperture as 21 of sufiicient size to permit of ready inspection of the partsof thetruck structure which lies adjacent the opposite sides of the bolster, and which would otherwise be hidden against inspection from the outer side of the truck. The walls of the aperture are flanged/as at v22, said flange engaging and serving Vto reinforce adjacent portions of the side flanges of the central aperture of the member 8. Connecting langes or ribs as 23-23 are extended from the flange 22 to the flange 2O for reinforcing the latter. The web of the member 9 is of course cut away .to coliform to the shape of the aperture 21.
