GEORGE .1.. HEss, OF 'nmivnn ooLonADo, AssiGNOR To nnss PLUME COMPANY, OF
' DENvEn, COLORADO, A CORPORATION.
PLUME.
Tol all whom it may concern: Be it known that I, GEORGE L. Huss, a citi zen ofthe United States, residing at Denver, in the county of Denver, State of Colorado,
have invented certain-new and useful Improvements in Flumes; and I do hereby declare'the following to be a full, clear, and exactdescriptionof the invention, such as ""will-eiiable others'skilled in the art to which vit appertains to make andlise'the same.v
,-'The 'object of the invention resides particularly'in the provision of an improved joint between the sectionsof a fiume of the character' named which will render? the flume as a wholewater 'tight and which at. the same time will ofi'erfthe least resistance to the flowy groove while the arms 13 will contact with the bottom of the groove with the outer terof Water through the fiume.
A further Object of the invention resides in the'provision of: a flume joint which will' enable the sections of the Hume to be oon- -nccted together with' ease and rapidity and which will afford' the .-necessary strength to enable the flume to bear the loads and strains incident to its use.
With the above andother objects in view 'the invention consists in the details of construction and in the arrangement-and combination of parts to be hereinafter more fully described-1nd particularly pointed out in the appende iclaims.
In describingfthe invention in detail reference Will beglihad to 'the accompanying drawings wheeinlike characters of reference denote-co responding parts in the sev- 'eral views, and in whichshowing more clearly the various parts of the joint between the flume sections,- and Fig. 7, a detail view looking at the endof the carrierbeam and showing the manner of connecting same to thil bolt sti-ap which latter is attached to the outer clamping niember disclosedin Fig. 3.
Specification of Letters Patent. Patented Liar, 19, 1912. Application led October 2 0, 1911. Serial No. 655,732. l I
Referring to the' drawings, l0 and 11 indioate adjacent sections -of a fiume whichV are of the usual semi-circular cross section. AThe adjacent ends of the sections and 11' are of angulaiformation and each includes an arm 12 disposed at an obtuse angle tothe body of the section and another arm 13 extending parallel to the body of the section,v said last named arm constitutngfone end of the section. i
The adjacent angular ends of the sections 10 and 11 seat ina groove 14 formed on the inner face of anouter clamping member 15 and have their outer terminal e ges disposed It will be noted that in spaced relation.
the groove 14 conforms in superficial shape to thehngiilar ends of the sections 10 and 11 so that the arms 12 of said angular ends will contact with respective side walls of the minal edges of the arms 13 disposed in i spaced relation. Also disposed wit-hin the groove 14 and clamping upon the angular' ends'of the sections 10 and 11 is an inner clamping bar 16, the inner face 0f which registers wit-h the inner faces of the sections 1 and 11 while the outer face thereof conforms in superficial shape to the inner faces of the angular ends of the sect- ions 10 and 11.
Secured to each end of the outer clamping member 15 are boltl straps 17 which projectthrough openings 1S in a carrier beam 19. This carrier beam 19 is of U-shaped cross scction and the free ends of the arms thereof seat respectively in grooves 2O formed in the upper -face of cam shoes 21. These cam shoes rest upon the ends of the inner clamping bar 16 respectively and have their upper faces in engagement with the free ends of the arms of the U-shaped carrier beam 19 as previously referred to. Each of the cani shoes 21 is provided at its outer end with an opening 22 through which respective bolt straps 17 pass when the joint is assembled.
From the foregoing construction it will be mounting the inner clam ing bar 16 so that 3 tions.

4. The combination of a pair of flume sectionshaving their adjacent ends formed with angular and horizontal portions and inner and outer clamping members having angular and horizonta :bearing surfaces corresponding to the angular and horizontal portions o the fiume section ends.
In testimony whereof, I aiiix my signa- 70 between them,
