The body-portion 1 of the union suit consists of a seamless tubular web of knitted fabric, either ribbed or plain, suitably 1 trimmed around the neck and arm holes.

The front portion of the body is, however, continueddownward below the waist line in the form of-a triangular web 2, as shown in Fig. 1. Each of the legs 3 and t of the garment is likewise composed of a seamless web, tubular in the lower portion of the leg but cut away in the upper portion so as to form afront curved flap 5 and back curved flap 6, ahorizontal edge 7 at the top of the back portion of-the lee. and an inclined edge 9 at the top of the front portion of the leg. The upper edges 7 of the leg webs are sewed or otherwise united to the lower edges of the rear portion of the body web 1, as shown at '10 in F ig. 2, and the upper edges 9 of-the twoleg webs are united to the diagonal edges of the downwardly extendingtriangu-lar flap 2 at the front of the body portion of the garl'nent, as shown at 11 in Fig. 1, the. front and back flaps 5 and 6 of one leg web overlapping the corresponding flaps of the other'le'g web, as shown by dotted lines in Figs. 1 and 2, and the size and extent of overlap of the back flaps being in "excess of those of the front flaps because of the different character of the waist seam atthe front and back of the garment.

' The only seam necessary in the construe- 4 tion of my improved union suit is that at the walst, and owing to the V-shape of the 'seam'at thefront of the waistdue to the presence of the depending triangular flap 2 this seam does'not causediscomfort to the wearer because of the pressure of the corset or-of a tight-fitting ou'ter article of apparel at the-waist line. The presence of the-V- shape seam at; the front of the garment also permits me .to-dis'continue the front flaps 5 at a point some distance below the waist line,

whereby at the front of the waist there is but -a single thickness-of web instead of the multiple thickness of web which would be pres- .ent if the front flaps were-carried up to the waist line' The -V-shape"-" fr.ont seam also lends itself to the disposition-of the leg webs at such an angle-inrespectto one another as to provide ample space for the hips of the wearer, as shown in Figs. 1 and 2.

My improved garment is composed of but three members, each without seams and without the crotch gusset generally employed inv garments of this type. In making certain styles of garments, however, such as those having shaped legs with or without cuffs at the lower ends, seams will be present on the insides of the' legs because of the necessity of cutting and shaping the web to impart the desired shape to the legs.

The edges of the front and rear flaps 5 and 6 of each leg member of the garment are preferably oversea-med or otherwise finished to prevent raveling of the stitches of the knitted webs of which the legmembers of the garment are composed.

Owing to the diagonal disposition of the seams 11 between the front portions of the legs and the front portion of the body of the garment more of the web is removed from the upper portions of the leg .webs than would be the case if the seam between the body and legs was horizontal both at front and back, consequently in cutting the legs faults in the web can usually be made to match in with the openings.
