In an attachment of the class described, the combination with a shearing machine, of a guide bar supported upon said machine and over which is adapted to run cloth, a gage roller slidably supported bysaid bar and adapted for contact with such cloth, a swinging cutting mechanism supported by said machine and having connection with said gageroller, whereby on the displacement of the gage roller by contact with obstructing portions inthecloth, the said cutting mechanism will simultaneously move to enable the obstructing portions in the cloth to pass under the cutting mechanism without the stopping of the machine, counterbal ancing means cooperative with the cutting mechanism for momentarily sustaining the latter elevated when raised, and means for adjusting the cutting mechanism.
5. In an attachment of the class described, the combination withv a shearing machine,

7. In an attachment of the class described, the combination with a shearing machine,
of a guide bar supported upon said machine and over which is adapted to run cloth, a gage roller slidably supported by said bar and adapted for contact with such cloth, a swinging cutting mechanism supported by said machine and having connection with said gage roller, whereby on the displacement of the gage roller by contact with obstructing portions in the cloth, the said cutting mechanism will simultaneously move to enable the obstructing portions in the cloth to pass under the cutting mechanism without the stopping of the machine, means for adjusting the cutting mechanism, and means cooperating with said cutting mechanism for momentarily balancing the same when lifted from the cloth to permit the obstructing portions of the cloth to clear the cutting mechanism.
