The passageway 18, and the mixing chamber 20 taper from their receiving to their discharge ends and aline with each other as well as with the burner, as shown in Fig. 3. The mixing chamber 20 is rovided with an air inlet 32, underneath, t rough which additional air may be supplied and the tapering contour of this chamber is such as to create a suction therethrough and cause a com lete mixture of the air and fuel therein.

This auxiliary pipe 22 is controlled by a gate valve 23 by means of which the passa of the gases therethrough may be regu ated, and when the burner is in operation this valve is partly closed so that only a limited su 1y of gas enters the fuel pi e.

The numeral 27' refers toa blowhack cup whose interior conforms to the rounded end of nose 9 and which is designed to be placed thereover when it is desired to clean the burner or unstop either of theinlct pipes leading thereto. The bottom of this cup carries a projecting cross 28 which en ages against the free end of tube 12 and orces the some back, depressing the coil spring 14,
while the cup proper rests against the nose 9. In case it is desired to cleanse the burner of any obstructions which may have collected in either passage way thereof the plug 29 is removed from feed pi e 16 and when the nozzle is closed by cu 2 the atomizing fluid is driven through t e fuel passageway and escapes through the opening in the feed pipe left by the removal of plug 29. Both ate valves 17 and 23, should be closed when it is desired to thus cleanse the burner. When either of the ipes, 16 or 22, becomes clogged, the gate va ve of said clogged pipe may be opened, and the other gate valve closed and plug 29 screwed into place. The cup 27' is then applied over the mouth of nozzle 6 and the atoinizing fluid will be driven through the clogged pipe, thus unclogging the same. The bottom of cup 27 is rovided with a socket 30 in which a suitablh rod or bar may be placed and secured by set screw 31, and a handle for said cup thus provided. The cup may then be applied to the burner nozzle and the burner pi es cleansed, as above described.

A device of the character described including a nozzle havin a tapering free end and a telescoping tu no extendin therethrough, said tube being compose of two sections, one of which is immovable with respect to the nozzle and the other of which is united to the immovable section by means of a slip joint, the discharge end of the movable section being flush with the discharge end of the nozzle, a resilient cushion against which said movable section rests, a fuel supply inlet and an inlet for furnace gases communicating with said tube and supplying fuel and furnace gases thereto, and an inlet for s iraying fluid communicating with the nozzle.
