Description

v. TARDIEU.
GIROUIT'0LOSBR. APPLICATION FILED JULY 25, 1907.
. Patented Feb. 13, 1912.
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
VIGTORIEN TARDIEU, OF ARLES, FRANGE' CIRCUIT-CLOSER.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, VICTORIEN TARDIEU, a citizen of the French Republic, and resident of Arles, Bouches du Rhone, in France, (whose post-oflice address is 2 Rue Barreme,) have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Circuit-Closers, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
The present invention relates to circuit closers or call push devices and it has for its objects among others to provide an improved device of this character.
The invention is clearly illustrated in the accompanying drawings, which with the characters of reference marked thereon form a part of this specification, and in which:
Figure 1 is a plan view showing the application of the invention to a telephone substation set. Fig. 2 is a section on the line A A of Fig. 1, the base being cut away, and the posts or terminals removed. Fig. 3 is a detail View of the circuit closer taken on line BB of Fig. 1.
Like characters of reference indicate like parts throughout the different views.
Referring to the drawings, in w 11Cl1 the present invention is shown as applied to a telephone substation set, a is a receiver hook, suitably pivoted at b and cooperating with contact strips 0, cl, 6, f.
g is an induction coil having terminals or binding posts S, 8 t, t.
L, L S, S Z M, C M, Z S, C, S, are binding posts for connecting the substation set in circuit. Since these parts form no part of the present invention further clescription thereof is deemed unnecessary.
Referring now to the circuit closer, 0 is a push button for operating a lever 29 pivoted on the support P. This lever consists of two metal plates 72 and p separated by an ebonite plate 29 the whole being tied Specification of Letters Patent.

together by means of two bolts. Two pairs of contact strips m, n, are secured on such plates, and cooperate with three sets of contact blocks m a and 0, the contact strips m contacting with blocks m, while the contact strips 11. contact with blocks 0 and n. It will be noted that the contact blocks m are so arranged that the contact strips m always remain in engagement therewith during movement of the lever 79 and that.
in the normal position of the circuit closer, as shown clearly in Fig. 2 contact strips 12/ are in engagement with the blocks 0 but during movement of the lever 72*, move from engagement therewith into engagement with the blocks a. The circuit closer thus normally provides a path for current from on through 79* to 0, while in its depressed position it provides a path for current from on through 79* to n.
Having thus described my invention what I claim is: i
A circuit closer for use in telephone substation sets comprising a movably mounted member 0 a pivoted lever 79 in the path of movement thereof and arranged to be moved thereby, said lever comprising two metallic plates with an interposed insulation, two pairs of contact strips secured to said plates, three pairs of contact blocks cooperating with said pairs of contact strips, one pair of said contact strips being permanently in engagement with one pair of said contact blocks during movement of the pivoted lever, the other pair of contact strips being normally in engagement with a second pair of the contact blocks and movable from engagement therewith to engage with the third pair of contact blocks upon movement of the pivoted lever.
In testimony whereof I aifix my signature.
