ALBERT VOLLER-S, OF GUIDE ROCK, NEBRASKA.
PORTABLE LOADING DEVICE.
To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, ALBERT VoLLERs, a citizen of the United States, residing at Guide Rock, in the county of Vebster, State of Nebraska, have invented certain new and useful Improvements in Portable Loading Devices; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same.
This invention relates to portable loading machines, and has for an obj e'ct to provide a device of this character having a platform upon which the operator may stand without discomfort and remove the material from the dumping platform.
A further object is to provide a loading machine which may be disassembled and when disassembled will consist of but three parts which may be conveniently manipulated and packed for storing or transportation.
lVith the above objects in view the invention consists of certain novel details of construction and combination of parts hereinafter fully described and claimed, it being understood that various modifications may be made in the minor details of construction within the scope of the appended claim.
In the accompanying drawings forming 7 part of this specification :Figure 1 is a plan view of the device. Fig.2 is a longitudinal sectional view taken on the line 2-2 Fig. 1. Fig. 3 is an end elevation of the device. Fig. 4 is a side elevation of the platform and one pair of legs folded. Fig. 5 is a side elevation of the inclined braces and the other pair of legs folded. Fig. 6 is a side elevation of the trough detached.
Referring now to the drawings in which like characters of reference designate similar part-s,10 designates side sills the end portions of which are secured to the leg frames 11 and 12 which elevate the sills sufiiciently above the ground to permit of a vehicle passing thereunder.
The leg frame 11 consists of uprights 13 which extend above the sills and are detachably connected thereto through the instrumentality of bolts lt. The uprights are held in spaced relation by diagonal braces 15 bolted or otherwise secured to the edges of the uprights.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed November 13, 1911.
Patented J an. 30,1912.
Serial No. 660,077.
The leg frame 12 consists of uprights 16 which are approximately centrally pivoted to' the sills through the instrumentality of pivot bolts 17, the uprights being held in spaced relation by diagonal braces 18secured to the opposite edges of the upright and are furthermore connected by cross bars 19 and 20, the former being equipped with a depending sheave 21, and the latter with an upstanding sheave 22. These uprights fold upon the sills when the device is knocked down.
A pair of inclined braces 23 are bolted at their opposite ends to the upper extremities of both leg frame uprights through the instrumentality of bolts 24: and 25, the latter serving as pivots upon which both braces may be folded along the leg frame 11 when the device is disassembled as will hereinafter be described.
A trough 26 is secured to the leg frame 11, and comprises a bottom 27 of substantially trapezoid outline, from which rise side boards 28, the latter being provided with orifices at the upper ends to receive the bolts 25.
Arranged transversely upon the sills 10 at the discharge end of the trough is a dumping platform 29 which receives the contents from the trough. Arranged transversely upon the sills and spaced from this platform is a second platform 30, upon which the operator may stand in removing the material from the dumping platform and dropping the same through the dumping opening between both platforms into the vehicle designed for its reception. It will be noted that both platforms are disposed in a substantially horizontal plane so that the operator can conveniently move about without danger of slipping, and this all the more since none of the material is discharged upon the operating platform 30 so that the latter does not become slippery as in ordinary devices of this character.
When it is desired to knock down the device for storing or transportation, the sills are detached from the, leg frame 12. Now
the leg frame 12 is folded upon the sills 10 and the inclined braces are folded upon the leg frame 11. The entire device is noW in three parts, a trough, folded leg frame 12 and sills 10, and folded leg frame 11 and braces 23, and these three parts may be compactly stored in a minimum space.
lVhat is claimed, is
A loader including spaced sills, spaced platforms on said sills, a leg frame centrally pivoted to said sills and foldable thereupon a second leg frame detachably secured to said sills, inclined braces detachably secured to the first named leg frame and hingedly connected to and adapted to fold upon the second named leg frame and an inclined 15 trough detachably mounted upon the second named leg frame and having its discharge end overlying one of said platforms.
In testimony whereof, I alfix my signature, in presence of two Witnesses.
