DISPLAY-STAND.

To allwhom it may concern: l Be it known that I, VVIILIAM E. Raes DALE, a citizen of the United States, resid-` ing at Artesia, county of Eddy, and Statepf New Mexico, have invented certain newfand useful Improvements in Display-Stands, of which the following is a specification."

This inventionrelates to display standsl Y The present invention has for .l its object the provision of'afdisplay stand especially adapted for displaying' trousers and utiliz-k` able in the sale thereof, the purpose being to provide a stand of simple, strong, durable, inexpensive and ornamental `appearance which can be revolved to any desired position, will'` have novel means for holding trousers in either upward or more or. less* horizontal position sothat the general appearance thereof, as well as the tailoring, may be readily determined, which willenab'le the goods to be readily placed in'posi-V tion'or removed, and which will occupy but small space.

The invention is fully lset forth hereinafter and the novel features are recited in the appended claims.

A clamping bar 29, which has a pin 30 at one end and notches 31 at its other end, is adapted to be engaged with the apertures and notches in any position to hold the garments on the leaves, ready for easy removal upon swinging the notch 31 out of the notch 28 with which it is engaged.

It will be understood that the leaves ll can be used for the display of any articles, but these leaves are preferably elongated and shaped for the convenient support oi' trousers whose lower ends are designed to be held by the clamps in the manner shown.

The leaves are normally in lowered position, but the set of leaves, head 5, and column i can be rapidly and easily turned to bring to any desired position any leaf which may be thereupon raised into position for convenient manipulation or inspection of the garments, as shown in Fig. l.

The stand may b'e used inside of a cabinet, if desired.4

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is

1. In a display stand, the combii'iation with a spindle adapted to support the stand, of a revoluble head mounted on said spindle, a revoluble column connected to the head and receiving andrrotatable on said spindle, a plurality of leaves hinged to said head and adapted to be disposed either in general vertical or general horizontal position, means carried by the leaves for holding the article to be displayed, independent supporting devices hinged to the respective leaves and provided with feet which have an inclined face,

verticalguides carried by the said revoluble column which have slots narrower than the width of said feet, the said feet being adapted to slide in the guides and the supporting devices to travel in the said slots, abutments for sustaining the feet when the leaves are in their lowered position, supports carried by the revoluble column adapted to receive and sustain the said feet when the leaves are in raised position, and means on the column adapted tol engage the inclined facesV of the feet to cause said feet to engage with said supports.

2. In a display stand, the combination with a spindle, of a tubular colulnn telescoping over said spindle, a .head to which the column is secured and which is revolnbly mounted on theV spindle, vertical guides carried by the column and provided in their lower parts with rests or abutments, the col umn being provided with apertures at higher points which apertures communicate with the guides, leaves hinged to the head, and supporting devices hinged to the leaves and provided with feet which travel in the guides, said feet heilig adapted to'rest upon the abutments in the lower parts of the guides or to pass into the apertures aforesaid to support the leaves in lowered and raised positions', respectively.
