YARN-CUTTER.
My inventionhasrelation toyarn cutters, and the main ob ect of my invention is to produce a device of this type that will be simple in construction and operation, durable and inexpensive to manufacture.
A further object of my device is to provide a curved cuttingblade used therewith which is given both a forward and downward movement at the same time.
A further object of my invention is to provide means for measuring and holding the.
yarn in position so that the blade will make a smooth and clean cut of the same, and also means for holding the yarn when cut.
With the foregoing and other objects in view my invention consists of the novel construction and arrangement of ts several parts as are fully shown in the accompanying drawings, and described in this specification and the claims hereunto attached. v
Referring more particularly to the drawings: Figure 1 is a front elevation of my in- Fig. 2 1s a topplan view thereof.-
vention. Fig. 3 is a rear elevation of myinvention. Fig. 4 is a detail of theadjustable cutting blade in cross section and of theflolade oarriage also in cross section.
Referring more particularly to the drawings in which like numerals designate like parts throughout,"1ny invention is described as follows.
The frame consists of a bed plate, see Figs. 1 and 3, havinga normally inclined bottom portion 1, the left hand end of which termi Y nates in an arm 8, turned upwardly andto the right diagonally-over said bottom portion at an angle of about degrees forming in conjunction with said base, a V-shaped throat 6, the edges ofwhich V-shapedthroat are sharpened into cutting edges. The
right-hand end of saidbottoin portion turns up vertically and on",a line with the front end of said base and terminates in w rm 2, which is practicallyeircular; its front side being perfectly flat and smooth. Thefiat side of the blade carrier 11, is pivotally se- 4 Specification of Letters Patent.
stroke of said blade.
and to .the said carrier is adjustably secured openings in the carrier, and an opening in "the blade as shown in Fig. 1. Securedto h PatentedJan.'23,1912. Application filed March 17, w n. seri 1'no,.55o,0es.} w
a blade 9, by means of a bolt 15, and nut 16 ;l I said bolt passing through one of a series of said blade carriage and extending to theileft is an operating handle 12, havingextend-ing from its rear side a lug1'9, which contaots with the upper end ofsaid arm 8, thereby operating as a stop limiting the downward Secured to the base of said bed plate and running rearwardly is a board or table 17, whichftable is provided at its rear end with supports 18; said table having thereon certain scale jas indicated in Fig. 2, for the purpose of determining the.
length of the cut. Secured to the side of 3 said bed. plate opposite the said table 17 is a Q bar or frame a formed of abase '5, having the arms 5, 5, extending diagonally upward from each end thereof; and the'legs or supports 7, 8, which latter are vconnected to the legs of the bed plate by. means of the bolts having thereon the spacing sleeves 3.. The legs 1", 1", of the bed plate 'ofmy invention yet I may exercise the right and the legs 7,,8- of thebar a have each a. flat foot with an opening therein for securting said parts to a suitable support. y
Although I have specifically described the construction, combination and arrangement.
to make such changes therein as do not dev part from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claims. v 'Havingdescribed my invention what I claimas new and desire to secure by Letters &
Patent, is: 7 p
1.. A cutting mechanism consisting of a clined bottom portion adapted to support the material to be cut, an arm extending uping therewith an inclined V-shaped recess a.
bed plate provided with a downwardly in-,'
wardly from the lower end of said'loottom 7 portion .at an acute" angle thereto, and forum said inclined bottom portion and a cutting f blade lpivotally supported by said arm and "having shearing engagement with the side walls ofsaid incl ned bottom portion and} with said first named Farm and a material supporting bracket consisting of a recessed bar disposed'parallel with the side wallsiof arms at its ends, said frame being connected to said bed plate by bolts and spacing sleeves.
In testimony whereof I aflix my signature, in presence of two witnesses.
