The drum comprises two or more spiders 101O mounted on a shaft 15 on which strips of wood 20 or other suitable material are laid lengthwise and held in place by metal binding blocks 25 which are located between adjacent strips, and are adjustably secured to the spiders by studs 80. By preference the edges of these binding blocks are oppositely inclined as illustrated in "Fig. 2. As
illustrated the strips are square in cross sec-" tion, and the blocks have a slight movement toward and away from the spiders. When the strips and blocks are assembled the studs are screwed down to securely fasten the strips in place. Then the surface is turned 5 down to finished shape.
I do not desire to be understood as limited in the use to which drums made in accord ance with this invention can be put, nor to the precise details of construction shown and described. 1
I claim as my invention '1. An article of the character described comprising a plurality of spiders, strips of suitable material laid lengthwise thereon and space'd apart, binding blocks located between adjacent strips, and means for moving said binding blocks toward'said spiders.
2. An article of the character described comprising a plurality of spiders, strips of suitable material laid lengthwise onand extending from one spider to the other, said strips being spaced apart, binding blocks lo' cated between adjacent strips and studs passing'through said blocks and having threaded engagement with said spiders.
