WATER-CLOSET. V
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Jan. 16,1912.
Application filed Decemller 24, 1909. Serial No. 534,790.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, Bnnnos R. ToRossIAN, a citizen of the United States, and a resident of West Hoboken, in the county'of Hudson and State of New Jersey, have invented a new and Improved Water-Closet, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description. I I
The object of the invention is to provide a new and improved water closet, having spraying means for ablution and under the control of the user and wholly independent of the flushing devices for flushing the bowl of the water closet. For the purpose mentionedthe front and rear of the bowl are provided with spraying nozzles, connected with a valved water supply and arranged to direct sprays of water in an upwardly-inclined direction toward the middle of the top opening of the water closet bowl.
The invention consists of novel features and parts and combinations of the same, as will be more fully' described hereinafter and then pointed out in the claims.
A practical embodiment of the invention is represented in the accompanying drawings forming a part of this specification, in which similar characters of reference indicate corresponding parts in both views.
Figure 1 is a side elevation of the, improved Wa'ter closet, and Fig. 2 is a like view of the same, parts being in section.
The bowl A of the water closet is provided with the usual top opening B, the seat 0, the cover D and the water supply E for flushing the bowl after use.
In the front and rear walls of the bowl I A are arranged the nozzles F and F, 'pref- .erably integral with the bowl and pointing upward in "an inclined direction toward the middle of the opening B of the bowl, as plainly indicated in Fig. 2. The nozzles F,
are connected .with nlpples G, G screwed or otherwise secured in spmewhat enlarged portions of the wall of the bowl A, and the nipples G, G are connected with each other, exteriorly of the bowl A, by a pipe G, connected with a pipe H leading to a water with a hot an tione supply. The'pipes G and H are preferably arranged on the right-hand side of the bowl A, and the pipe H is provided with a valve H, under the control of the user of the water closet, for turning on and shut-- ting off thesupply of water relative to the nozzles F -and-F. I
By the arrangement described the user of the water closet, while seated thereon, can readily perform an ablution, by opening the valve H so that the water is sprayed by the nozzles F, F against the body of the user. When the ablution has been performed, the user closes the valve H to shut off" the water. The pi e H is preferably connected cold water supply to furnish water of any desired temperature.
Having thus described my invention, I
el-aim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent:
1: A water closet having-a bowl, nozzles on the front and rear of the bowl, nipples secured in the wall of the bowl and connected with the said nozzles, a pipe connecting the nipples with each other, and a valve-controlled pipe leading to a water supply and connected with the first men- 2. A water closet having a bowl, nozzles formed integrally in the wall of the bowl at the front and rear thereof and pointing upward in an inclined direction toward the center of the to opening of the bowl, nipples secured in the wall of the bowl and connected with the said nozzles, a pipe arranged exteriorly of the bowl at one side thereof and connecting the said nipples with each other and a pipe leading to a water supply and provided with a valve under the control of the user, the said pi e being connected with the first mentioned pipe.
In testimony whereof Ihave signed my name to this specification in the presence of two subscribin witnesses.
B DROS R. TOROSSIAN. Witnesses: Tmc'o. G. Hos'raa,
JOHN P. DAVIS.
