METAL PIPE-FOOT WITH WOODEN JACKET FOR ORGAN-PIPES.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Application filed February 16, 1911.
Patented Jan. 2, 1912.
Serial No. 608,943.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it lmown that I, WILLIAM A. SoMMER- I-IOF, a citizen of the United States, residing at Erie, in the county of Erie and State of Pennsylvania, have invented a new and useful Metal Pipe-Foot with Wooden Jacket for Organ-Pipes of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates to a metal pipe foot with wooden jacket for organ pipes and consists in the novel construction and arrangement of its parts hereinafter described and claimed.
The object of the invention is to provide a pipe foot with a metallic lining extending from the toe throughout the length of the pipe and which presents a perfectly smooth interior surface throughout the length of the pipe foot to the air passing through the same and thus avoids a disagreeable noise which is heard in a pipe foot having a metallic toe but which lacks the metallic lining as above stated.
In the accompanying drawings :-Figure 1 is a side elevation of the pipe foot. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional view of the same. Fig. 3 is a transverse sectional view of the same cut on the line 33 of Fig. 1.
The pipe foot consists of a hollow wooden body 1, having a soft metallic toe 2 of usual configuration. A lining 3 is joined with the toe 2 and extends throughout the length of the wooden body 1. This lining body is preferably made of soft metal and is integral with the toe. Thus when air is passed through the pipe foot it comes in contact with the smooth inner surface only of the lining 3 and the smooth inner surface of the toe 2 and consequently objectionable or disagreeable noise usually found in pipes which are not so equipped is eliminated.
Having now described the invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is A pipe foot comprising a hollow wooden body with a metallic toe applied to one end thereof and a metallic lining integral with the said toe and extending throughout the length of the wooden body.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my own, I have hereto affixed my signature in the presence of two witnesses.
