As already mentioned the leg'can be secured in this position by tightening up the iy nut m, thereby pressing the nose of the catch s rmly against the corresponding part of the shoulder.
In the form of construction shown at Fig. III the nose o of the catch 0 forms one piece with Athe part f of the leg; that is to say it forms a lower lu or shoulder of the eye through which ,te screw t is passed.
In the modification shown at FigIV the pawl lever and catch are formed in one piece'. .In this case also the pawl lever c c is pivoted. in a recess of the part f and is provided at its upper part with an arm p forming the fixing catch, which arm p, in
the engaging position of the pawl lever,
rests against the inner edge of the downwardly projecting shoulder w of the body of the support. The pawl c2 which meshes in the usual manner with vthe t'oothed rack is in this case arranged in a recess between the arms p and c. Otherwise the pivoting of thelegs is the same as in the arrangements previously described.
Briefiy the following manipulations are performed when setting up the support. The supporting legs are grasped in the manner already described and swung around the segments into the' desired position, the pawl is released, the leg placed on the ground and the support is set up.
What I claim as my invention and desire to secure by patent is:

A tripod gun mount, comprising a body, versal joint, sheulders on said legs adapted to engage shoulders on said body, whereby said legs are each confined to' movement in a single plane, and means for securing said legs in positio 4. A. tripod gun mount, comprising a body, legs connected to said body by a universal joint, means whereby said legs' may each be confined to movement in a single plane, means for iixin said legs against angular movement, an means for securely fastening said legs. l
5. A tripod lgun mount, com rising a body, legs connected to said body y a universal joint, means wherebyl said legs may each be confined to movement in a single plane. a rack and pawl engagement between said body and legs for xing the angular position of said legs and means for securely clamping said legs in position.
6. A tripod gun mount, comprising' a body, legs articulated to said body, racks and shoulders on said body portiomspring pressed toothed levers upon said legs and adapted to engage said racks, and binding screws having shoulders adapted to. engage the shoulders on said body portions.
