SHAVING-CUP.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that 1, h/[iniANc'riioN S'rniixnn, a citizen ot the United States ot' America, residing at Philadelphia, in the county .of Philadelphia and State yof Pennsylvania, have invented new and useful Improvements in Shaving-Cups, of which the following is a specification.

The invention relates to a sli-.wing cup and more particularly to the class of combined cups and powdered soap holders.

The primary object of the invention is the provision of a cup of this character in which powdered soap may be held thereby, and a predetermined quantity thereof may be delivered into a water reservoir so that the soap will not contact with the water contained within the reservoir or float thereon, thus enabling a shaving brush to bc dipped into the receiver for the accumulation of the desired quantity of water and soap for the purpose of lathering the face for shaving purposes.

Another object of the invention is the provision of a cup of this character in which powdered soap and 'water may be conven` iently held for ready access by the user ot the cup to enable the proper lathering of purposes.

A further object of the invention is the provision of a cup in'which there is arranged a plurality of separable sections or reservoirs, one being for the purpose of receiving powdered soap and the other for receiving water, the reservoir for the soap having a communication controlled by means of a valve so that a given quantity of powdered soap may be delivered into the water receiver :but not in contact with the water held therein, thus enabling the dipping' of the brush into the soap and water independently of each other, thereby assuring the collection of a definite quantity oit Water and soap upon the brushfor lathering purposes in shaving. I

A still further object of the invention is the provision of a cup of this character, which is simple in construction, reliable and etticient in operation and inexpensive in manufacture.

Referring to the drawings by numerals, the cup comin-isos a cylindrical body 10 having a circular outwardly flared base supporting flange 11 at its bottom, the body being divided into indtqiendent upper and lower compartments 1Q and 13 by means ot a horizontal partition 14, the compartment l2 being designed to receive powdered soap, while the compartment 13 is designed to roceive a` water 'tout or reservoir, as will be hereinafter more fully described.

Detachably engaged with the upper edge or the open end of the body 10 is a removable cap or lid 15, the latter servi-ng to close the compartment 12 for the preservation of powdered soap when confined therein. The body 10 at one end thereof. is cut away to torni a suitable opening communicating directly with the con'ipartment 13, and into which is detachably fitted a soap font or reservoir comprising a cylindrical cup-like body 16, the same being formed at its botare employed toin with a semi-circular shaped base-supf porting flange 17 adapted to overlie a portion ot' the base supporting flange 11 of the body 10 on introducing the font or reservoir into the compartment 13, the bottom of the body 16 of the font or reservoir being adapted to rest upon the bottom ofthe body 10 on the interitting thereof.

The body 10 is provided with a loop handle 18 and also the body 16 is prvided with a similar handle 19, the handles .being designed to permit the carrying ot' the cup and also the removal of the water font or reservoir 16 at will. In the filling of the font or reservoir 16 with water a given quantity is introduced therein so that the level ofthe water will not stand above the free edge of the catcher pan or trayj20, thereby obviating the possibility of the influx of water into the said pan ortray.

Connected with the pivot 23 and arranged within the compartment 12 is a swinging agitator 25, the same being formed with a linger lever 26 projecting outwardly through a suitable guide slot provided `in the side wall of the body 10, the linger lever 26 be ing bent whereby it will lie'i'n close relation to the finger lever 24, thus enabling both of said levers to be simultaneously moved Vby the user of the cup.
