Be it known that I, EDWARD PRENDERGAST, a citizen` of the United States, and resident of St. Louis, Missouri, have invented certain newand useful Improvements in Truncated Boxes for Street-Valves, Fire-Plugs, Meters, and the Like, of which the following is a specification ,containing a full, clear, and
exact description, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, forming a part hereof. l
My invention relates to improvements 1n truncated boxes or housings adapted to be located below the surface ofthe ground, which are used to inclosethe valves of water mains, fire plugs, stop valves, meters and the like, the object of my inventionbeing to construct a sectional knock-down box made up or composed of a series of separable in dependent sections, which box is light and strong, not subject to decay, and so constructed that it can be put together without the -use of nails, bolts, or similar fastening devices. f
To the above purposes, my invention con sists' in certain novel features of construe` tion and arrangementof parts which will be hereinafter more fully setforth, pointed outin the claims, and illustrated in the accompanying drawings, in which:

The base` or lower half of the box is constructed of four plates l, identical in size and construction, and said plates being formed of reinforced concrete or analogous hardened plastic materiah These plates have their ends tapering or inwardly and upwardly inclined, and formed in the top edge of each plate is a recess 2. Disposed on the inside of each of said plates l and adjacent one end thereof, is a reinforced shoulder 3. This shoulder is set back from the end and is disposed'on the inside face` substantially parallel with the end. It will be seen from the foregoing that I have constructed aknock-down box for the purposes stated, which can be easily and cheaply manufactured, transported and set up for use at the point of use, and in order to set it up for use no fastening devices are required.
