To all whom it may concern: I
Be it known that I, PAUL SZLUKA, a subject of the King of Hungary, residing at Iuionville, in the county of Lake and State of Ohio, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Locks, of which the following is a specification, reference being had therein to the accompanying drawing.
This invention relates to locks, and more particularly to that type commonly styled a padlock.
The object of my invention is to provide a lock-body with a novel form of shackle that can be easily and quickly locked in a closed position.
I attain the above object by a lock consisting of comparatively few parts easily and quickly assembled.
The construction of throughout and easily by a key.
The construction of the lock is such that the mechanism thereof cannot be tampered with and the lock surreptitiously opened.
The invention will be hereinafter specifically described and then claimed, and reference will now be had to the drawing, where in like numerals'of reference designate corresponding parts throughout the several views, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation of the lock in connection with a staple'and hasp. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal sectional. view of the lock. Fig. 3 is a cross-sectional, view taken on the line III III of Fig. 2; and Fig. 4 a similar view taken on the line IV--IV of Fig. 2.
A lock in accordance with this invention comprises a cylindrical body or barrel 1 having a longitudinal central bore 2 eX- tending from one end thereof to the opposite end The inner end of the bore 2 is ei'llargcd and the walls thereof scre\v--thr(; aded, as at Adjacent to the inner end of the body 1 is a recess 4 that intersects the bore 2 of the body. The lower closed endof this recess is disposed at an angle, as at 5, to receive a fiat head 6, carried by the hookshaped end 7 of a shackle-8. The outer end of the shackle is pivotally mounted between apertured lugs 9 by a pin or rivet 10. The apertured lugs 9 are carried by the side of the body 1, at the outer end thereof. The

The pin 12 is prevented from sliding out of the bore, and the key 15 can be inserted in the outer end of the bore to engage the pin 12, whereby said pin can be further rotated into the bore 2 to firmly lock the hook-shaped end of the shackle within the lock-body.
The lock is illustrated in connection with a staple 17 and a hinged hasp 18. The lock occupies a very small space in connection.
