JOSE GOYENECHE, OF RIVERBANK, CALIFORNIA.
PLOW.
Specification of Letters Patent.
Patented Nov. 21, 1911.
Application filed January 28, 1910. Serial No. 540,548.
To all whom "it may concern:
Be it known that I, Josn GoYnNEoI-m, a subject of the King of Spain, residing in Riverbank, in the county of Stanislaus and State of California, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Plows, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates generally to plows and more particularly to one capable of various adjustments by means of which a deep or shallow furrow can be made and also one by means of which the dirt can be thrown to either the right or left as desired.
Another object of the invention is to provide a plow in which various parts thereof can be easily and quickly put together or taken apart.
With these various objects in view, my invention consists in the novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts all of which will be fully described hereinafter and pointed out in the claims.
In the drawings forming a part of this specification: Figure 1 is a sectional elevation of a plow constructed in accordance with my invention. Fig. 2 is a sectional plan view on the line 22 of Fig. 1, and, Fig. 3 is a sectional view on the line 33 of Fig. 1.
In carrying out my invention I employ a beam A having any preferred construction of clevis B at the forward end thereof. A bifurcated standard G is connected to the beam A, said standard having front and rear legs and the rear leg of this standard has an opening or socket produced therein and in which the rear end of the beam is inserted and secured by means of a bolt A. The forward leg of the standard passes upwardly through the beam and is secured by means of a bolt A and a plurality of bolt openings are produced in this forward leg of the standard in order to provide for a series of adjustments of the standard as it is obvious that by adjusting this leg with reference to the beam the position of the standard can be shifted suflticiently to either raise or lower the plow-share and point so that a deep or shallow furrow will be run. A longitudinal recess G is produced in the bottom of the standard for a purpose hereinafter explained. At the forward end of the bottom of the standard is a forwardly projecting finger C and at the rear end of the standard is a socket C The plow-share D has a detachable point D and about midway the length of the plow-share is a swiveled bolt D carrying a three-fingered casting D said casting being normally held in connection with the plow-share by the staples D through which two of the fingers pass while the third finger is adapted to enter the socket C and a nut D is employed for binding all of the parts together. The forward projecting finger C is adapted to enter a socket D produced adjacent the forward end of the plow-share.
E indicates the handles which are secured to the upper end of the rear leg of the standard and F indicates a brace-rod connecting the upper ends of the standard legs. The adjustment of the standard is readily understood and by means of this adjustment I am able to run a deep or shallow furrow as desired. By having the share and standard connected as herein shown and described the said parts can be easily and quickly connected and disconnected. The beam is made of wood and also the handles, while all of the other parts are of metal and in this man ner I provide a simple, inexpensive and durable construction of plow.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is 1. In a device of the kind described, a bi furcated standard having front and rear legs, a socket being formed in the rear leg of the standard, a beam, said beam entering said socket and being pivoted therein, the beam being also adjustably secured to the front leg, and means for securing a share to said standard.
2. The combination with a plow beam, of a bifurcated standard, said beam being adjustably connected to one leg of the standard, and pivotally connected to the other, the lower portion of said standard being provided with a recess and the rear face of the standard having a socket, a share, a bolt swiveled to the share, the head of said bolt resting in the recess of the standard, a casting detachably secured to the share and adapted to thread upon said bolt and a finger carried by said casting and adapted to engage said socket, as and for the purpose set forth.
