Be it known that we, J OSEF GMEINDL, Sr., Josnr GMEINDL, J r., JoHANN GMEINDL, and ALOIS GMEINDL, citizens of Germany, residing at Ed, Post Schnaitsee,,near Gars'am Inn, Bavaria, Germany, have invented cer- Devices for charging furnaces, in which cell-wheels connected with checks are set in motion by the weight of the fuel fed into the cells, are a part of the prior art. In order to enable such a device to feed a certain amount of fuel at given intervals into the furnace the present invention provides a tipping double-receptacle below the cellwheel, which receptacle is so arranged in bearings that it can be adjusted to empty at desired intervals.
The preferred embodiment of the inven tion is illustratively exemplified in the accompanying drawing, wherein Figure 1 is a vertical sectional view of the device looking at one side thereof; and Fig. 2 is a similar view at right angles to Fig. 1, looking at the front of the device.
Below the feed-funnel a a cell-wheel b of known construction is arranged, connected by pinion gear .or the like with a check 0 of any suitable type. Thus'the cell-wheel b is rotated in the direction of the arrow by the fuel fed into it. Below the cell-wheel b is arranged a tipping double receptacle d, consisting oftwo vessels or receptacles arranged diametrically opposite to one another on an axis f, pivoted in spring carried bearings h. This double receptacle 0! is arranged unsymmetrically below a feed funnel in such a manner, that the upper vessel when charged will always have the tendency to tip over, from doing which it is however prevented by an adjustable pin 9, until such time as the weight of the fuel in the vessel acting against the supporting springs of the bearings it causes the vessel to sink below said pin g. The furnace charging funnel below the tipping receptacle d connects with a conduit l, having an automatic valve m, fitted with side-pieces n, overlapped by the pieces 0 connected to the funnel side. What we claim as our invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. In furnace charging apparatus, the combination with a fuel feeding hopper, of a rotary wheel having pockets for receiving fuel from the hopper, a tipping receptacle to which the fuel is fed from the said heel, spring supported bearings in which said tipping receptacle is yieldingly carried, and an adjustable unyielding stop projecting into the path of said tipping receptacle, whereby the tipping receptacle may be regulated to tip under the weight of different quantities of fuel entering the same,
