. The Sehec'lule referred to in these Lette-rsPatent and making part of the same Be it known that I, A. G. PARK, of Leon, in the county of Cattaraugns, and Stat-e of N ew York, have invented a new` and useful- Improvement in Drag- Saw Trucks, for the use of those who use a drag or vcrosscut saw for cutting trunks of trees into saw-logs `and logs for other purposes; and I do hereby declare the following to be a full, clear, and exact description thereof, reference being had to. the accompanying drawings making part of this specification, in which` `l`igure 1 is an isometrical project-ion of my improved trnck, and Y Figure 2 a longitudinal vertical sectionthereof. Inthetrucks hitherto in use it` has always heen necessary to roll the log off the truck, so that this last might he run back to a new point'of supporti, when `t-he log was of a length to require a change ofthe relative position of the truck and log, as, for instance, the lengths to bereut otl'being twelve feet, the tram` way on which the truck traveled being thirty, and the log .being sixty feetlong, the truck would ,have to be run back aft-er three lengt-hs had been cut ;I and this required the log to be unloaded `from the truck and pnt on again after the truck got its new position. At the same time the lo'g could not be prevented from `rocking andtrembling from the action of the saw, no

The object of my invention'is to obviate all these difliculties'and inconveniences, and save time and labor, by running the truck bac-k while still under the log, andysave troublebysotirmly holding it that no motion can be imparted to it by these-tion of the saw.

In the drawingsv A A A A is the frame of the truck, supported by flanged wheels running on 'a trani-way, B B, of any convenient length, say from `thirty to fifty feet.

On this shaft, between the beams A A,`are two circular dogs, DI), having serrated edges, and turning with the shaft, ou which they may be allowed to slide for adjustment by the set-screws a. a,

One end of the lo'g (that which is nearest the' saw atone end of the tram-way B,),having been laid on a roller, I, which, by the way, is provided with alever and `dog in the ordinary manner, and is placed across the tram-way at the proper distance from `the saw, the` truck being placed at the further end of the tram-way,

and nnderthat portion of the log so as to support it on the holsters or cross-beams A A', (see g. 2.) A chain, H, is now hooked at one end to the square shaft C, or to a pin in the shaft, and is carried thence over the. log and secured at ,its other end in the same manner to the shaft G on the other side of the log.

Atm-n is'then given to the shaft by the lever G winding np the ends of the chain, and binding the log so` tightly to the truck that 'it cannot move thereon, the chain being kept tight by the ratchet F and pawl e.

The dogs D D are brought np against the log, and aid in holding it fast.

When a length is cut ofi" bythe' saw, the roller I is turned, and the log fed up the required distance, the

truck following, still supporting the log, which is still bollini. by the chain, This is repeated for every length, until the truck has approached the saw and has tobe. moved back to a new place under the log, and at or towards the other end of the tram-way.

The -chain is loosened and power applied to the lever i.

' As the dogs D revolve, their teeth lift up thc log clear ,of the bolster-beams A A', and by reaction canse the truck to 'traversethc tram-way until it reaches the proper place, whenl the log is again secured bythe chain, and the process of feeding to the saw and cutting ofi' is repeated.

The combination of the truck A A A A, ratchets E F, and the lever G, and their adjnncts, with the shaft O and chain H, or its equivalent, substantially .as and for the purpose set forth..
