Figure 1, of the drawings, is a side view of my invention in operation.
Figure 2 is a perspective view of the same.
My invention relates to means for catching and holding the cords of window-curtains and for'like purposes; and consists, mainly, in the construction and novel arrangement of a gimlet-pointed screw, witha tubular head, having an angular notch or cleft in its lower and outer edge. y
lihe letter A ofthe drawings designates the windowcaslng.
B is the cord-holder, designedto be screwed therein by means ofits gimlet'point b.
The cord dis passed through the vtubular head c, and is secured by dropping it downward into the tapering notch d.
When it is desired to loose the'cord it is only necessary to pull it horizontally in the direction of the axis of the tube o. v
The curtain may be thus raised to anyr .height as the cord will run easily in this direction, but becomes secured at once by falling into the notch a.
This fastening may be employed for tightening clothes-lines and many other purposes, where a cheap and substantial fastening is required `for holding the ends of cords and light ropes.
The tubular head c is arranged eccentric vto the axis of the screw b for convenience in passing the cord, and to afford leverage for introducing the screw into the casing.
What I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by- Letters Patent, is-f The cord-holder herein described, having gimletscrew l), bent shank, and tubular head c, perforated in a direction parallel to the axis of the screw, and provided with a notch, a, when constructed and arranged to operate substantially as and for the purposes herein set forth. l v L In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two witnesses. t
