`Specification ofrLettersPatent.
Patentedflcu .19, 1911.
Application filed.-1)eceml':er 31, 1909. VSerial 110.535,882.
My `invention .rela-tes `to .unprovements in movable garment supports .for ward-robes,
and its object is to provide the same with various Anew and useful features hereinafter more fully .described `and particularly pointed out in 'the claims, `reference being had Yto the .accompany-ing drawings in which.:
Figure l is a front :eleva-tion of a ward` robe having 'my device ,mounted therein and Y with a portion broken ,away to show the construction; Fig. a ver-.tical section taken on the line 2 2 .of Fig. l .showing ray-device side elevation; and, -Fig. 3 a plan view of the same.
Like numbers refer :to like parts in all of the figures. i
l represents a wardrobe or show case of any convenient dimensions.
2 are parallel bars spaced apart and on` which the garments are :hung by any convenient means.
3 are radiating arms supporting .the bars 2 and projecting rfrom a rotative head e. pivi oted on the -base'vplate 5 and suspended below the same. This plate is supported in horizontal position by arms 7 lpivoted .thereto .at l their low-.er ends and provided with ventically movable pivots l2 at `their upper end,A said pivots being guided in .slotted v'ha-ngersf il secured -to :the'top of the case. The opposite .arms are preferably connected rigidlyl and are su` oited on tracks 9 extendinfr P e horizontay in the wardrobe, arranged parv allel and close .to respective outer sides' of the arms` '5. These arms are preferably: provided with supports intermediate their. ends, for-med .of rollers 8 which engage and traverse lthese tracks and'support the device thereon..
To swine, the device inward and outward, and hold properly, the tracks are.. formed with upwardly curved portions 10,L oppcsitely inclined surraces' of which as Michigan, lhave invented ithe upper -rollersy I:traverse downward -on these inclines, the :inwardly inclined `sides cause 'thehdevice .to swing inward, Aas' shown in Fig. v2, Ito bring `:the axis of the :head 4 substantially at the ycenter of the :case and the outwardly incl-ined portionsf'o'fithe curves l0 serve i-n :like manner Lto cause the arms .7
'rto swing loutward and carry the `Yhead far enough 'out .of :the case tto y permit @the `rods to 'be :rotated about the .axis :of fthe head 4.
Thus by ,gravity the `device will :swing either inward Ior outward from the :mid-position as occasion requires, inward ttor closing the case, .and outward Yfor -access :to fthe garments 8 on the vrarms beneath the tracks, but rdo not consider athis Lto fbe `essential vas the device will operate quite satisfactory without the same. They merely :serve 'fto hold 'the arms down iand prevent 'ithesaine from rocking `or -rising at the light side, should .the device .be loaded to excess ateither side.
What I claim is l. A `garment support, comprising paral- 'lel tracks, the upper ends, .meal-ns for suppbrting garments carried by `the lower ends Iof :the arms, and supports intermediate fthe ends of the arms 4traversing the tracks.
2. A garment support, comprising parallel tracks having oppositely inclined portions,
.arms each vertically movable at the up er end, .means for support-ing garments' carried by :the lower ends Iof the arms, andsupports intermediate :the ends of the Yarms .and traversing the inclines .of the tracks.
3. A garment support, comprising parallel tracks having oppositely and downwardly inclined portions, .slotted llangere above the =tracks, arf1ns having pivots at ytheir upper -ends vertically movable in vthe hangers, supersing the inclines .of the tracks, and rotative garment supporting means carried by the lower endsof the arms.
4. A garment support, .comprising parallel tracks, each having two oppositely inclined portions, arms swinging between the tracks,
.rollers on the arms traversing the .upper surface of the tracks and supporting the arms, means for" vertically guiding the upper ends -of the arms, and a rotative garment lsupportV carriedby the lower. ends of the arms :each vertically movable at.
and v'rotation Aof the rods about the :axis of 70 `the fhead 4. :I Shave'shovvn .additional 1rollers ports intermediate the ends of the arms trav# n 5. A garment support, comprising vertically slotted hangers, arms pivoted at their upper ends in the slots of the hangers, parallel tracks at the respective sides of the arms, rollers on the arms oppositely engaging each track, a bed plate carried by the lewer ends oit said arms, a rotative head sus pended below said bed plate, radiating arms on the hea d, and parallel rods carried on said last named arms.
t3. A garment support, comprising` two pairs of arms, each pair being rigidly connected, tracks at the opposite sides of the arms, each. having two oppositely inclined portions, rollers traversing said inclined por 15 tions of the tracks and supporting the arms,
a bed plate pivoted to the lower ends of the arms, a head pivoted to the bed plate and suspended thereby, radiating arms/on the head, and rods carried by the last named arms.
ln testimony whereof I aix my signature in presence of two Witnesses.
